Gingershot is a DJ based in Budapest, Hungary.

She started out in her local scene in the past few years. She has a background in scriptive and verbal literature, so no surprise she was always interested in rhythm and sound. Her selection covers a wide range: from slow heartbreaking vocals through cheerful groove 'till dinamic industrial 'knife sharpening'.

Gingershot has a wide range of tastes in music: she feels that harsh, grating industrial style is as close to her as the emotional and fragile heartbreaking vocals. The point for her is to thicken the sound to fulfill the well-known aesthetic formula: 1 + 1 = 3. While she freely juggles genres and loves to get lost in expanding her music library, she also educates herself on the theory of music and the philosophy of arts academically.

She entered the Hungarian techno scene in 2018, after years of gathering tracks since 2021 she has been a frequently invited DJ at various events. However, she also actively publishes about the local scene which she likes to be a member and an observer of, too. Out of the capital she has been invited to other cities in Hungary, also played in Berlin, and released a guest mix in Madrid. In Budapest, she is a resident of the Kindergarten event series.

This time she would like to show us her progressive selection of club techno, tribal, and hypnotic grooves with a hint of remarkable sound design and experimental motifs.

Szegedi Fanni, known as Gingershot, boasts an eclectic taste in music, embracing everything from the harsh, grating sounds of industrial to the emotional and fragile tones of heartbreaking vocals. Her goal is to thicken the sound armed with extreme antipodes to achieve the well-known aesthetic formula: 1 + 1 = 3. As a genre juggler, she delights in expanding her music library while also pursuing academic studies in a master's program in the philosophy of Bodily experience and theory of arts. 

Since 2021, she has become a sought-after DJ, frequently performing at various events. Beyond DJing, she is an active commentator on the local scene, cherishing her roles as both participant and observer. Her dedication has taken her beyond Budapest to other cities in Hungary and internationally to Berlin, with a guest mix release in Madrid, and performances at Inota Festival and Kamalect. In Budapest, she holds a residency with the Kindergarten event series. In 2024, she further solidified her position in the industry by joining Funkful Records as a resident DJ.  —————————————— 
Szegedi Fanni, művésznevén Gingershot, eklektikus zenei ízléssel büszkélkedhet, mindent magáénak vallva a gépzene zene nyers, reszelős hangjaitól a szívfájdító vokálok érzelmes és törékeny tónusaiig. Célja a szélsőségek maximalizálása, ragaszkodva az örökérvényű esztétikai elvhez, miszerint 1 + 1 = 3. Műfajzsonglőrként örömmel bővíti zenei könyvtárát, miközben esztétika mesterhallgatóként szenzualitást (testi valóság), filozófiát és művészetelméletet tanul.

Gingershot 2018-ban lépett be a magyar techno szcénába, 2021 óta gyakran lép fel különböző zenei eseményeken. A DJ-zésen túl aktív kommentátora a helyi szcénának, váltogatva szerepeit résztvevő és megfigyelő között. Elhivatottsága Budapest határain túl más magyar városokba, nemzetközileg Berlinbe, egy vendég mix kiadás révén Madridba, az Inota fesztiválra és a Kamalect-re is eljuttatta. Oszlopos tagja Kindergarten rendezvénysorozatnak, majd 2024-ben tovább erősítette pozícióját az iparban, amikor csatlakozott a Funkful Records-hoz rezidens DJ-ként.

Funkful Resident: Gingershot

Szegedi Fanni (Gingershot) underground elektronikus zenei közegekben mozgott mindig is. Trap/hiphop/slam vonalon belül már kísérletezett évekig szövegíróként, míg végül 2018-ban ismerkedett meg a budapesti techno és goa/trance bulikkal. Ízlését kezdetekben nagyban formálták a titokzatos illegálok és a műfajokban sosem szűkölködött Lärm. Segítséget, képzést és inspirációt közvetlen környezetében talált, a legtöbbet And/ortól és az In Silence-től tanult a dj-zésről. 2021-ben zenélt először közönség előtt, de 2022 óta fordul elő sűrűbben a fellépők között. A Szimpla Kert, a Fabrika állandó meghívottja, hallható volt az Aetherben, a szegedi Sunderben, más vidéki városokban, de kiállításmegnyitón, tudományos-ismeretterjesztő projektmunkán belül és filmfesztiválon is zenélt már. A szcéna iránt megfigyelői oldalról is érdeklődik, interjúkat készít, beszámolókat, tanulmányokat publikál, elméleti kutatásokat is folytat, az ELTE Esztétika mesterképzésének szakdolgozati terve a kísérleti elektronikus zenét és a műfajokat helyezi fókuszba. Jelenleg a Primate.hu Kindergarten sorozatának rezidense és a Funkful Records tagja. Az elmúlt egy évben megannyi remek lehetőséggel volt szerencséje élni: meghívást kapott a madridi Symbole Community guest mix sorozatába olyan nevek mellett, mint Benza vagy Alberto Tolo; bxrnadetth-tel együtt Berlinben a Gabber Industries Berlin x Burenhinder x HARDCODE eseményén Flucc és Cøunts után vették át a pultot; nem utolsósorban meghatározó élmény volt számára, hogy a KamaRave és a Dialect közös kőbányai buliján zenélhetett. Idén nyáron az Inota fesztivál mindkét felvonásának line-upján helyet kapott. Szelekciójával a holisztikus szemléletet képviseli, azaz az elektronikus zene egészére koncentrál, a kezdetig visszanyúló hangzástól a legújabb trendekig, a lassú és tempós ütemekre egyaránt, a könnyen fogyasztható és nehezen emészthető műfajokkal együtt, kis és nagy kiadók, hazai és külföldi előadók kiadványai között böngészve. A nyitottságot, az érdeklődést és a kíváncsiságot tartja a leghatékonyabb forrásnak a motivációhoz, hogy az egymásnak ellentmondó elvárásokkal és a kompetitív hangokkal szemben egyénileg, szabadon fejezhesse ki, hogy őszintén mit jelent számára a zajzene mint kultúra, művészet és közösség.

Külön érdekesség, hogy ez a felvétel a Celluloidra revolverrel c. kísérleti filmfesztiválon készült, Esztergomban 2024. augusztus 29-én.
