Like many Detroit DJs, Gino (@ginoisland)was profoundly inspired by the sounds and energy of Movement Music Festival at an early age. Through his interest in the Detroit scene, this would lead him to being the first intern for the group Soul Clap. Gino’s DJing flourished once he permanently relocated to Detroit. After a year of mixing records at TV Lounge before the Thursday night TV Dinner parties, he was offered a time slot at a residency called Snack Time; an event complete with home cooked food and local DJs which had 60 weekly shows before being held monthly. As the community around Snack Time grew, Gino’s taste and technique became refined, which would lead to him playing over 100 shows through 2018-2020 in the Detroit area. His vinyl and digital collections include everything from funk, soul, and hip-hop to deep house and techno, which makes his performances stand out from the rest of the crowd.In 2021 he released his debut EP on vinyl for Choose Better Friends Records in Detroit and later in the year had a single picked up for a Get Physical Music compilation. With plans to bring the Detroit and Chicago scene together through his party Snack Time and an EP coming out later this year inspired by his time living in Humboldt Park, things are only looking up for this versatile artist.

La chasse, translating to “the hunt” in French, is a metaphorical statement about what it means to be an artist. Being a creative of any kind means being driven by hunger that can only be satisfied through the expression of oneself, the externalizing of something that lives within us - and, in many cases, the yearning to watch others interact or react to our art, in the hopes that they recognize themselves within it as well.

La chasse is the feeling of chasing that release and all of the steps that must come before a piece of our internal, creative world, is relinquished for the consumption of others. Furthermore, it’s an allusion to the fact that this creative drive catches itself in a never ending cycle - the satisfaction of releasing art never satiates us for very long before we are on the hunt again, to share ourselves with the world.

Co-founder of the respected Zaza Island events, Roni Amitai has grown as an artist almost as quickly as her rapidly expanding record collection. Together with Hilu, they have grown their event series to an enviable level that has meant they are able to invite top artists such as Sammy Dee, Cristi Cons and the Half Baked crew, Anthea, Francesco Del Garda, and Traumer. The list goes on and on, and it will continue to rise and rise. 

Having been looking to bring Roni to the fold for some time now, we are happy to present her mix for your listening pleasure. Clocking in at just under 2 hours long, Roni is able to begin her trip with a smooth selection of 90’s dreamy house jams before peppering more underground sounds around the decks. Like the guests she welcomes on a regular basis Roni quickly moves through the gears and even drops back a few in order to take off in a different direction. This mix is definitely one for the diggers with an ear for 90’s house and techno, you won't be disappointed.

Zip is co-founder of the label Perlon, is familiar with the dancefloors around the world and famous for his tremendous minimal shifts within the 4/4 scheme. He has an illustrious musical history which began in 1986 as singer in the band Second Voice. In 1992 he moved to Frankfurt and joined the EBM band Bigod 20. After several releases the band split. In 1996 he got together with Markus Nikolai and Chris Rehberger to form the audio-visual project Pile. In 1997 he and Nikolai founded the Perlon label, on which he has released under the pseudonyms Dimbiman, Pantytec (with Sammy Dee) and Narcotic Syntax (with James Dean Brown). In 1999 the SuPERLONgevity compilation was released, featuring 'Bushes', a track that has since garnered chart-topping remixes from the likes of Derrick Carter and Fatboy Slim.

Zip also recorded with Peter "Baby" Ford and has appeared on Ford's label PAL SL. He is a regular guest DJ in clubs around the world and holds residencies at Robert Johnson (Offenbach) and the Panorama Bar (Berlin). He participates in the Narod Niki project, occasional collective laptop live jams initiated by Ricardo Villalobos and Richie Hawtin. He has released tracks and remixes on Perlon, Playhouse, Force Inc, Novamute and others.
