Gio Garcia is a Melbourne based Dj that has a deep connection with the roots of house music, disco and afro - latin sounds.
He has been Djing for more than 22 years in Mexico, Australia and the US.
Influenced by the early sounds of Chicago, New York, Africa and his own Latino heritage, Gio has acquired a style based on deep percussions as well as Soulful vocal trends.
His major influences are by Frankie Knuckles, MAW, Danny Tenaglia, Larry Levan, Hector Lavoe , Poncho Sanchez, Tito Puente , la India just to mention a few.
Born in Mexico City, Gio immigrated to Australia in the late 90’s where he continues his journey with the Australian Underground House Movement  playing recently alongside the likes of  Osunlade, Jimmy James and J'nett (strictly vinyl ), Zepherin Saint, DJ Oskido, Max VeGas, Euphonik, Mike Gurrieri, Eddie Mac, Lucas Posada, Mas Paoli, James belias Gotsoul Melbourne, Culoe de Song, Chris NG ( Release) Mike Steva (Yoruba records, Deeper Roots) Ian Friday and the one and only Jose Marquez.
He is the creator of the Australian Underground House Movement, and hosted the trilogy parties  Babalú, Shango and Cachimba (the afro latino side of  AUHM )
His monthly party BABALU 2.0 alongside some of the best DJs from Melbourne are driven of percussion Afro-Latin rhythms.
He is a resident of the monthly party Deeper Roots.
He was co-host  of the Yum-Yum show with Chris NG on Melbourne's dance music station Kiss FM,radio station where he appears regularly as a guest.
Gio sets are a journey that takes you from Deep Soulful house to African-Latin, from funk to soul,from disco and boogie. Sounds that will make you not want to leave the dance floor.
