Tripzinha 6 - April, April, der macht was er will

On the 13.06 Coven got together with Transmission to put up an unforgetable dance, helping to revive the queer dance floors in Berlin. On that day the collective effort to connect many boomboxes to radio transmitors to stream the sets, plus the perfect location, made music and dancers meet to create a hot sweaty summer outdoor rave. 

Transmission began as a Covid-safe response in summer 2020 to club closures and continues to be a political, responsible, and sexy way to dance and meet. 

Coven was honoured to be playing 7+ hours of music for this wonderful polycentric queer gathering. And here is my contribution i made for that dream we had together.

Under the Waxing Crescent moon we had the last "summery" Coven party in Berlin. The dance floor was full of beutiful smiles and bodies waving with the down beats at the Velvet Bar. 
That was the landscape I needed to trip again, and from that set was born a new Tripzinha.

If you met me behind a booth playing some 128 bpm ass shakers, let me tell you how this all started. 
Tripzinha 1 was a recollection of my first endeavors on mixing music in a time when my resources were a computer with Virtual Dj, a mouse, and a USB sound card bought in a Späti that I used as a headphone cue. 
A lot changed but the essence was the intention. I've always liked to gift my friends with something related to music and from that point, I found a way to do it that was also much fun for me. Smoking a joint and mixing music was my favorite hobby when I came to Berlin and Cher knows it is still my favorite activity, but now not just a hobby anymore. 
OBRIGADA is a recollection of downtempo tracks that I’ve been finding in my digging for beautiful and groovy dance music. Some are B sides from records that you might have seen me playing already on a dance floor, and there are the ones found by chance in meaningful situations, which is my favorite digging methodology.
Most of all, this is how an introvert finds a way to express great gratitude for everyone who ever supported me and believed that we could together build the dance floor of our dreams.

The Midnight Service - Bolita

@gio_goltara (Giovani Goltara, he-him) has discovered that electronic dance music is where he feels most comfortable expressing himself. Ever since his early rave days, he's been drawn to electronic beats infused with Latin American rhythms. 

Digging through records from the 1990s, GIO uncovered a treasure of productions that appropriated diverse sonorities from the global south. 
Now, he's on a mission to bring these sounds back and re-appropriate them for queer dance events, particularly in Berlin, where he's been organizing parties since 2021. 

One of his standout events is Coven, which focuses on celebrating queer Latin American culture through music and dance.

Em sua estreia no domínio de Tandera, Tuxe apresenta o seu primeiro single, "MVP". Duas faixas pulsantes, carregadas de energia e prontas para a pista de dança. Flertando com sons gerados por diversão tecnológica misturadas a uma sensualidade etérea, o DJ e produtor apresenta um universo simples de entrega sincera. "MVP", sigla para "Minimum viable product" ou para "Most valuable player", se divide em dois caminhos. "MVP 1" começa definindo o tom trazendo breaks em uma faixa que engloba texturas latinas irreverentes em um ritmo progressivo e incessante. Em uma interpretação única, o DJ e produtor brasileiro e baseado em Berlim GIO eleva os elementos da faixa original em uma sequência ambiciosa de batidas percussivas, trazendo o calor e suor carnavalesco aos ouvidos. Em um segundo momento, "MVP 2" abraça percussões ritmadas e vocais sublimes com uma linha de baixo encorpada. In his debut on the Tandera domain, Tuxe presents his first single, "MVP". Two pulsating tracks, full of energy and club ready. Flirting with sounds generated by technological fun mixed with an ethereal sensuality, the DJ and producer presents a simple universe of sincere delivery. "MVP", an acronym for "Minimum viable product" or "Most valuable player", is divided into two tracks. "MVP 1" begins by setting the tone, bringing breaks to a track that encompasses irreverent Latin textures in a progressive and incessant rhythm. In a unique interpretation, Berlin-based Brazilian DJ and producer GIO elevates the elements of the original track into an ambitious sequence of percussive beats, bringing carnival heat and sweat to your ears. In a second moment, "MVP 2" embraces rhythmic percussions and sublime vocals with a full-bodied bass line. Label partner Guza contributes with a second remix for the release, slowing down what he adds in detail, fruition and sonic experimentation, closing the cycle of 4 distinct emotions, imprinted on the same pattern of propulsive rhythms.

El House juega un papel fundamental en mi vida, al igual que en la de muchas personas queer y migrantes. Junto con los afrodescendientes, los latinos han  fusionado raíces para crear el estilo musical que nos hace bailar hacen décadas. Mis primeras raves, yá a los 26 años, me hicieron sentir parte de una escena artística única. Como estudiante y profesor de historia del arte, me di cuenta de que era parte de una expresión artística que aún no se enseñaba en la universidad. Desde entonces, el House y el baile han sido mi mayor fascinación artística.
Para este mix, seleccioné vinilos y tracks recientes producidos por personas que comparten experiencias de vida similares a las mías. Seguro que muchos los compré mientras estaba bien colocado de marihuana. ¡Parece que yo y la hierba tenemos un bello gusto musical en común! Entonces ahí están 39 tracks que me hacen tripear :)

"Missa 7am is a visit to my Christian roots. Originally from a small town, my main musical outlet was church. For a decade, I played keyboards at Catholic masses, weddings and events. As I recorded the synthesizers for this track, I remembered Sunday mornings, reluctantly going to church, except when I was there to play. The atmosphere of those days remained etched in my memory, but fortunately, I traded the church pews for the dancefloor."

Directamente desde la pista de baile, disfruta de esta mezcla de GIO (@gio_goltara) y Feasting (@dr_feasting) recorded live en Coven, Berlin.

Ambos nacidos en Sudamérica, Giovani Goltara (Brazil) y Miguel Jara (Chile) comienzan su trabajo en conjunto en el underground de Berlín en el año 2020, participando activamente en el restablecimiento de la actividad cultural de la música electrónica hacia el final de los confinamientos. Su colectivo Coven (@coven666) es reflejo de la necesidad de la apertura de espacios en la escena europea desde una perspectiva interseccional: su identidad queer y migrante moviliza la política de su trabajo desde la anti-colonialidad, la género-disidencia y la apertura de las barreras de clase en la música electrónica.

Tanto su trabajo como selectores y como productores bajo el pseudónimo The Midnight Service (@the-midnight-service) refleja un entendimiento de la influencia latinoamericana y queer en la historia de la música house y evidencia su experiencia y sensibilidad en crear atmósferas elegantes influenciadas por la cultura de club de Berlín de los últimos años.

13 June, 2020, Berlin-Neukölln, Corona still running loose, restricting and limiting us all from freely expressing ourselves, two kindred, gemini spirits, could not contain themselves anymore. With great support from their family, finally put their foot down and threw a party for the ages, celebrating life and freedom, and creating one of the best nights of all our lives.

Tripzinha 2 - Back to the Future

A trip within a trip inside a another trip.

Tripzinha 5 is a recording of a set played for family that brought myself to dimensions my consciousness hasn't visited yet. With the sun rising behind the olive trees, the fresh last minute summer breeze, and the smiling dance of beloved ones, I sang to the Orixás asking for protection, for mindfulness, for opening the paths, and so the music floated trough the decks.

No dia 23 de Outubro de 2020, entrei pra gang Coven, com os lindos Feasting, Jack, Tuck Tapes and Morphena, mandando um set para o Festival Apruebo no Chile.
O Festival online tinha como premissa juntar grana para apoiar a luta pela aprovação de uma Assembleia Constituinte no país, comemorando um ano do levante histórico na América Latina que culminou com a aprovação popular do processo de mudança constitucional, colocando fogo na constituição de Pinochet.

Hoje, 28 de novembro de 2020, às vésperas do segundo turno das eleições municipais, algumas das principais cidades brasileiras têm a chance de mudar o curso da nova história fascista que se vem desenhando no nosso continente. 

Vamos dançar pra virar e votar pra retomar os espaços de poder ao povo latino-americano.
