Five years after the release of Odes - what came to mark the end of Frank & Tony’s first incarnation - the duo of Francis Harris and Anthony Collins return with a flourish.

Ahead of their new Dream Vibration EP of Francis Harris much-renowned Scissors and Thread imprint, comes Time Out Of Mind - the perfect reintroduction to the world of Frank & Tony.

Time Out Of Mind is a woozy, drifting track given shape by its sharp percs and sub bass with melodies that harken back to early 2000’s dancefloors a la Plastic City, setting the stage for the full EP to come.

Hibernation is at an end: it’s 2023 and Aniara Recordings are back. Dorisburg delivers the first of three new Aniara 12” releases. A-side ”Voices” continues right where the Swedish label left off with its signature sound in 2019: 9 minutes of evocative minimalism that’s as entrancing as it gets. On the flip side we find ”Skulptur 7”, a haunting, atmospheric dancefloor cut in the inimitable style of Dorisburg.

Mohamed Maks (nicknamed as Maks from childhood) was born in the capital of the United Kingdom, London, in the year 1988 to Egyptian immigrant parents.
When Maks was in school, he began to play the drums and other percussion instruments, influenced by his native rhythmic music culture. Though his love for music was clear, he never considered himself as a musician. In the early 2000’s, he began to collect records and featured for local youth foundation events ‘Bigga Fish’ as well as appearing on popular pirate radio station ‘Passion FM.’ In his early days, Maks was influenced from growing up in the garage and jungle music environment. Today, he takes inspiration from Chilean electronic dance music visionary Ricardo Villalobos, as well as other artists such as minimal techno innovator Richie Hawtin, ‘Perlon’ label co-founder Thomas Franzmann aka Zip, ‘Minibar’ label head Cabanne, and ‘Fabric’ and ‘Houghton Festival’ curator and resident DJ Craig Richards.
After 25 years in London, Maks moved to the Middle-East, quickly establishing himself as a leading artist and influential figure in the growing regional electronic dance music scene. Viewed by many as the originator of minimal and microhouse music in the region, Maks paved the way by inviting, and collaborating with, some of his favourite artists from Europe and around the world, most of which had never appeared regionally before.
At the end of the decade, Maks founded ‘Deserted’, a record label curated by his own interest and vision of music. The first release is planned to appear during the winter of 2023.

Just a few months ago, In2Deep showcased his versatility with “Jams”, a dubby vinyl EP on Lumières La Nuit. DOTT, a new artist on my radar with releases on the likes of Little Helpers also crushed his latest production "Cosmic Dancer” released on Tools and Stuff Records. The two artists merged to deliver this beautiful piece, a great addition to your arsenal of tracks. 

Very rarely do you find a track that lets you move freely, both mentally and physically. The variety of textures it brings to the dance floor combines so well with the tight percusion flow. A perfect track for those late night, early morning sets. Beautifully created with the intent to break musical boundaries.

With a deep house core architecture, the track starts off with a dreamy state of mind. In2Deep & DOTT quickly lay out a groovy percussion that provides an energy boost to the sound. A well executed bass line moves the dance floor keeping the dance aficionados alive and apprehensive. You can’t escape this track, whether you’re fan of the melancholic or you lean  more towards a rhythmically curated sound, it will keep you plugged in and rooted to the dance floor.

An uncompromising return is coming and we, as a label, are extremely proud to host it on our frequencies: the internationally known Russian duo @Scsi-9 is back with “Squares And Circles” an 8 track album enclosed in a double vinyl. The 8th record on our elecTronic catalogue is an abstract, geometric but above all analog journey through Anton & Maxim’s souls; an identifying concrete work of research which displays the “two-dimensional & mathematical” approach of their connected minds. The whole LP is musically pervaded by all the sound investigations they made throughout the production period and tells us of all their inner perfectionism and willing to strive for a sense, a meaning to give to a solid composition such as this one. Coming to the raw music itself, they succeed in a complex process of making simple what’s extremely heterogeneous, embodying the psychological theory of the thought against the speech: it’s easier to talk than to think. Well, they talk perfectly through their music which is really difficult to separate into tracks, being such a climax of organic emotions, flowing from the opening “No Rush” with its tight rhythmics and spacey atmospheres to the more low-key and harmonious approach of “You & Me”; rolling on to the firmest and energetic constancy of side B starting with “Get Some Lfo” and slowing down again with the meekest, warm, far-out sensations of “Stairs and Stars”: this track is one of SCSI-9’s watermarks on the album and it’s a drive through an ascendant field of harmonies, peaking at its zenith and oscillating back to a state of peace, letting the last beat taking over. Uncrating the 2nd vinyl we access to the substantial envelope of “Pha In The Hau” and “Systematic”, a track that instantly takes us to an unknown region between the moon, Chicago and Ivory Coast, dancing along to some sort of Zaouli tribe percussions. D side brings the perspective to the edge of SCSI-9’s universe giving us an even closer look to the landscape they’ve created with this treasure album. “303 Views” is the last wind storm on the Lake Michigan, touching all the musical influences that come from that specific area of planet Earth while the last blow “Onigiri” is a soft lysergic guided tour on their very own trigonometric asteroid, with no fear of falling off it. “Squares And Circles” is here and is a determined, hard-lined and intransigent statement of what Anton and Maxim want to communicate us with their vibrations, no matter if you don’t get the whole point, just plunge into the these waters.
