‘Alte Liebe’ by Berlin’s Micropacer will send you over the edge. An absolutely stunning melodic progression underpins the undulating bass and relentless piano stomp of this one, recalling classic Italo / piano house with its jubilant feel and soaring pads.
AIKON from Kyiv reworks Claptone's classic 'United' from 2014 and gives it a heavy update for the dancefloor.
Joyce Muniz delivers dark Italo slammer 'Balin Bali', produced alongside rising Mexican star, Theus Mago.
‘Building Up’ by Enduro Disco is built on a solid foundation of nu disco texture but with a chunkier house edge.
On ‘High Energy’ by Mexican producer Levantine, distorted kicks suck at a tense synth arpeggio while in the distance a dramatic melody plays amidst a church-like reverb.
Barcelona’s Baldo revisits the gorgeously colorful ‘Dream Of You’ from Istanbul’s rising talent Zeynep Erbay, taking it on one hell of a trip.
NEAT’s ‘DYR’ is a beautiful, delicate, unhurried gem of a track, dripping in sensuality. Shimmering percussion and delayed claps lay a foundation atop sorrowful sustained organ-esque pads.
‘Fantasia’ by Kadosh builds slowly through a dramatic minor key bass line and shimmering metallic fuzz to suddenly explode into life with a stunning, sorrowful main riff that rocks a distorted 8-bit electro vibe.
Madrid duo Depaart rock the slick, acidic cut ’And You’ with a real air of sophistication about it.
Studio Barnhus affiliates Måns Glaeser (from swedish Off The Meds) and Basement Space team up for ‘Hollywood Cole’ - a cute breakbeat track peppered with old skool rap & diva vocals, shimmering electric piano chords and a thick, undulating bassline.
Marvin & Guy up the tempo for Joyce Muniz & Theus Mago’s track ’Balin Bali’ to a pacey house bounce and lay on some gentle electro textures.
London duo Make A Dance go deeper on their rework for Budakid’s ‘Milestones’, building through gated snips of the vocal, pulsing pads, Latin snare patterns and subtle bleep riffs and delays to reach a heady, hypnotic place.
Fabrizio Mammarella does the damage on his version of ‘Nechama’ by Sandhog, teasing us slowly with ticking techno percussion that ebbs and flows, he gradually reveals the synth chords amidst giant snare hits and pulsing cymbal rides.
Atlanta-based Sejva closes the compilation with ‘We Only Want To Be Bad’, flexing Hi-NRG muscle with its off-beat bassline, snazzy melodies and campy vocals. A masterclass in retro revivalism.
All in all this is a great eclectic dance compilation.

A shiny picture disc for Slow Motion Records release number 7 - Disco Wizard by Francisco from Jolly Music. Beamed from distant satellites via 1983 and picked up by a crack team of Berlin based Italian disco commandoes, the Disco Wizard brings to mind Space, the tougher end of pre-84 Italo, guys with beards and grace Jones and Amanda Leat dancing the night away. A nagging baseline propels the track forward with alternating male and female vocals that coo and tease, whilst twinkling refrain evokes the Giogio Morder's classic 'The Chase'. On the flip side the dub mix strips away most of the vocals and injects some serious strut into the beats. The rougher, tougher cousin of the original to send the boys and girls wild with cosmic desire. You have been warned.

Zakmina starts the trip. Building on recent release on Nein and XXX, here he ploughs a thunder like bass chug that gradually builds in its intensity. It’s a perfect scene-setter for the sleazy funk that follows; Salto Honduras continues to make the conversion from DJ to producer with the dark and drum-heavy ‘Betonada’ while Pontias takes us to the edge of the universe on a rocket made of slo-mo techno with ‘Easter Eggs’. Slow, heavy and star- gazing sexy. Dig deeper for more smouldering grooves as Mike Sacchetti’s ‘Dead As Disco’ gets full- on psychedelic in an early 200's Ewan Pearson kind of way while Volta Cab brings this heady session to close with a series of fractured electroid beats, lavish sweeping pads and a grizzly analog bassline that anchors this track deep deep deep into the dance, the night and our psyches.

Glaswegian space-funkateer Am$trad Billionaire returns after years of traversing through retro-cyber galaxies, making more aggressive acquisitions in one day than Lord Sugar does in a year. His last trip was 'Galaxy 500’. It took us all to far-off places and was a bit of a big deal… Especially the lead track ‘The Plan’.

Picked up by Solomun years after its 2013 release, ‘The Plan’ was licenced for his GTA After Hours mix and gave the track a whole new lease of life. But, like all good entrepreneurs, Am$trad Billionaire (boardroom name: Jamie Miller in case you ever do business with him) is back with another investment opportunity: ‘Outer Limits’.

A project in four parts that spirals deep into his cosmic sonic universe. Once again, the man with the plan delivers and returns are guaranteed. His salubrious space funk will seal the deal with any dancefloor as each part of the EP charms us around a different corner of his sprawling, synth-heavy style.

‘Part I’ warms up the proposal with a touch of Italo diplomacy, unhurried, disarming. ‘Part II’ raises the urgency. He’s sucked you into his pitch with the dreamy synths and he’s backing it with those driving breakbeats. ‘Part III’ gives you space to digest his offer. Slower, funkier with looser drums and bubbly electro boogie edge that gets freakier the deeper into the negotiation we get before. Then finally, ‘Part IV’ builds slowly with pops and struts before a set of triumphant strings sweep in and seal the deal. Pure business; all the way those opening 909s right through to the final synth flurry.

Another day, another dollar. A billion thumbs up.
