Midnight Magic’s perennial disco anthem “Beam Me Up” announced itself as an instant classic from the moment of its release in 2010, and at long last the fellow Brooklynites joined us for a 10-year-anniversary package (minus one lost year) that once again establishes the timeless quality of the song with a fresh and versatile package of new remixes.

Norwegian space-disco don Prins Thomas delivers a sprawling and elegant mix, grounding melodic and psychedelic elements over a bumping percussive disco rhythm treatment, stretching out over 8 minutes of blissful breakdowns, delays and driving bass lines. Kim Ann Foxman takes the song to a darker and dubbier place with her “Beam Me To The Basement Mix,” layering samples of singer Tiffany Roth’s vocal and insistent acid synths over a heavy and pulsing low end. Each Other, a new project by Max Pask and NYC club royalty Justin Strauss, crafts an extended peak-time stormer of a mix, with churning analog drum and synth production that is somehow ravey, New-Wavey and lush all at once.

These three mixes truly capture an entire club night in one record, each a beautifully unique interpretation that showcases the inimitable talent and creativity of the remixers, and is also a testament to the enduring perfection of the original. We play tribute to legendary Giorgio Moroder’s 1979 classic and seminal Italo-Synth-Disco tune with our Italian Connection remix package.  The original is taken from the album with the same name released on Casablanca Records which also features I Wanna Rock You. Moroder’s career spans over five decades starting in the sixtees. He is a three-time Oscar-winning and two-time Grammy award-winning record producer, songwriter and performer (Top Gun, Flashdance, Midnight Express). He is also known for working with artists like, Donna Summer, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury. We can write many pages with interesting stuff around his work, but this release is about the remixes.

We invited two of the most influential people in the early eightees Italo-Electronic scene. How about Alexander Robotnick, (real name Maurizio Dami), that we all know from his groundbreaking track from 1983 Problèmes D'Amour. A track that originally came out on Italian label Fuzz Dance and created a world-wide stir and still today are played amongst trend setters.  He continued working during the ninetees with various projects and is now back in the last years being very active in the Nu-Disco scene.   

Secondly we’re very thrilled about having Daniele Baldelli in this project. One of the true pioneers in the Cosmic Disco scene in Italy. Being the resident at Cosmic club in Lazise between 1979-84 and also playing at the Baia Degli Angeli club in Gabicce, where he mixed space disco oddities with all kind of eclectic music from that era. If you’re lucky enough to own one of his super rare Cosmic Tapes, then you understand what it was all about. Many claim him to be one of the best Dj’s ever.

Another old-skooler we invited is Klein & MBO, who released some classics on Atlantic in early eightees such as Wonderful, Dirty Talk and The MBO Theme.

On the more recent notes we have Rodion (Gomma, Eskimo , Nang), Dionigi (Quantic Division) I-Robots (Opilec Music) and L.I.S.
All in all, the remixers didn’t mess up with the original to much. I beleive they treated it with gentle hands and just added their trademark sounds to it. Ok, the I-Robots mix took another angle with it’s deep tribal version but I feel it works nice anyway.

Italian Nu Disco artist Tulioxi arrives on @NightNoiseMusic with a fantastic new three tracker.

@Tulioxi has put out more than 30 releases in his career. Releasing on an array of labels whilst also running his own in Cosmic Sumo Recordings. Furthermore, he is a developer of the MEFF Modular Synth Exhibition in Florence. As such his hardware sounds are full of texture and feeling as this new EP proves.

These three tracks are the result of a blend of the major influences that have characterised Tulioxi's musical DNA, from the seventies up to the present day. From the streets of New York, its gangs, the dirt and the funk.

Post disco and new wave fusionists Marcello Carozzi and Francesco Mingrino are @YoungerThanMe, and they bring their retro flavours to a second remix of ‘You Are Bad Luck.’ It’s a late night cruiser with silky synths and old school 80s flavours that add up to a deeply cosmic trip.

With this EP Night Noise Music prove they are leading the way when it comes to essential modern disco.
