“Altered Carbon” is a deep house track built around heavy synth textures and slow-burning tension. The rhythm moves with precision, every pulse wrapped in atmosphere and metallic sheen. It feels like the soundtrack to a world on the edge of sleep and surveillance — moody, dramatic, and cinematic in scope. Inspired by the tone of Altered Carbon Season 1, it captures that same blend of noir emotion and futuristic grit.

Couple things I made in my second term in my masters last year, bit more upbeat and less experimental than normal ha ha , quite 90s influenced ! ! I don't particularly resonate with this work but it was fun to make and try and mix the drums. Martin at MU studios in Sheffield had a big had in co-producing these which was super fun.

From a basement studio in Hackney, East London, comes Phil Passera and Chieka Ononye's  second release on Golf Channel as PAYFONE , The darkly smooth A side Quarantine is backed on the flip side with the South American flavoured Padre, Pray For Us.
Following on from 2014’s extremely well received Paradise, a track that NME described as “a rich, dubby slice of funk”, PAYFONE continue with a similar theme for their new A side Quarantine.
Once again featuring 24 year old vocal powerhouse Louis Howard Jones, lead track Quarantine is a semi

autobiographical take on the hardships of an underprivileged youth, set against a tough drum machine production that sounds more New York City than New Port County (Jones was born and raised in Wales, UK ). Cruising at a steady 120 BPM, the dark electronic rain drops and funk guitar intro gives way to some heavy slap bass action and deep synth bass that nods some way towards Michael Jackson’s Thriller before the brutal vocals of Louis Howard Jones hit you right between the eyes with power lyrics such as ‘ Born to be supreme, raising hell like Kerosene’
B side, Padre, Pray For Us is a bizarre Afro-Cuban inspired homage to Phil Passera’s father Sergio (who can be heard on the telephone singing praise for American / Sicilian showboat Louis Prima). Featuring the dynamic trumpet tones of former Cuban military private Eikel Venegas Hernandez, this 8 minute instrumental takes you to the Piñata Party via downtown Lagos.
