This recording brings together two core members of the Sun Ra Arkestra, its leader, saxophonist Marshall Allen as well as saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist Danny Ray Thompson together with rising piano and keyboard stars Jamie Saft, bassist Trevor Dunn, drummer Balazs Pandi. 

Recorded  at the Potterville International Sound studio in NY State over three days in 2016, 'Ceremonial Healing' features the late Trombonist Roswell Rudd in one of his very last recorded appearances.  

These recordings, a psychedelic three day free improvisation (one per day per disc) are tribute to the boundless power and legacy of the Sun Ra Arkestra achieved through the lens of an intergenerational collective improvisation and skill transfer.

During the legendary Forst years Roedelius had a private workspace with a Farfisa organ, a Revox-A77 tape machine, an echo device and a synthesizer which he borrowed from the Cluster studio next door now and again. Here he experimented, practised, allowed his imagination to flow, at any hour of the day or night, whenever he was not in the studio with Dieter Moebius and/or Michael Rother at work on new Cluster or Harmonia material. Roedelius always let the tape run, in order to analyze the ideas thus captured more effectively on repeated listening. The recordings offer us a deep insight into the creative process of his music. Fleeting notes, slivers of ideas, so to speak, moments of inspiration. Finger exercises, experiments in harmony, studies in rhythm are also preserved on these magnetic tapes.

This is a drum Lullaby I use to play for my children. It made them feel protected form the outside world as well as bad dreams. It's not what you'd expect a "Lullaby" to sound like because there is strength as well as melodies and rhythm. The sound of a father protecting the castle against real and imagined enemies. I believe it is also a good escape for adults and great for meditation and a distraction from these crazy days we live in.
