Chinese Breakdown/Crooked Stove Pipe

This set has a traditional Old-Timey feel, very appropriate for a lively contra.  Needlecase is a traditional Appalachian tune, featuring banjo.  Reel Beaujean takes us north to French Canada.  Camp Meeting on the Fourth of July is another traditional Southern tune that always evokes a hot summer tent revival meeting.

French Girls Waltz - Fanny Powers

Try these brief samples of our sounds.  They range from French Canadian waltzes to Southern contra dance tunes.  In this sampling you'll hear the haunting French Girl's waltz, featuring the cello.  At the other end of the spectrum, you may hear tunes from Bugs Bunny in our Chinese Breakdown set.  Camp Meeting on the Fourth of July always reminds me of a revival meeting on a hot summer afternoon, complete with tambourine, while Morrison's Jig has that hard driving feel of a dark, smokey night.
