This playlist features songs by McMurray Middle Prep alumni, Ju Lay, Mary, and Htoo Wah.

Over the course of 6 months, these three then 8th graders met weekly after-school to participate in Girls Write Nashville. Here, they committed to writing songs that celebrated their authentic voices, while learning new skills like guitar, ukulele, and song form.

Their season culminated in a recording session in partnership with Notes for Notes, a youth-serving organization that places professional- quality recording studios inside of boys and girls clubs.

The songs on this album were written by the youth participants, and produced by the youth participants, with assistance provided by GWN and Notes for Notes staff.
