With the upcoming Keith Rowe celebration in Berlin just around the corner, reflecting upon how Prepared Guitar noise crossed cultural boundaries. Pink Floyd in 66/67 a band of the London arts scene. Legend has it that Keith Rowe influenced Syd Barret to do improper things for the guitar that no other Pink Floyd guitarist cared to explore. I found this idea more plausible than Syd being stoned or aggressive -- although both artists might have found they shared a transgressive feeling for how such noises are the thang to challenge the thinking about the thang. While there's nothing in Syd's guitar sound surpassing anything Hendrix hadn't blown through several times with the vitality of ten thousand cats, it's also more complicated to think it through the Keith Rowe perspective. Hendrix's path, in my reading, was, yes, to found his own sound, gain his freedom, but also to destroy the white western exploitation culture with the rage of the slave uprising through the electrified blues and render, as a result, an American problem and treasure. In the last days, Jimi wanted to bring it back home and play deep electro-acoustic blues and rock the studio like CAN influenced by Stockhausen on shrooms. Keith's sound was already detached from folk traditions, more consciously post-modern (self-historicizing, self-contextualizing -- to lay the emotional guitar down, pushed away from the body), and few people really want to deal with that new kind of wilderness he explored in HARSH, where you see shards of what he maybe transmitted to Syd and which Jimi knew very well but never lived to take out of the rock and roll physicality context. Prepared Guitar music doesn't really exist if the guitar is not really involved, though. This track is all about those cross-over moments between the psychedelic movement and fluxus and free improv and indeterminacy. Syd was still in a rock band rooted in the Black Music of the Colonies and then they got rid of him. Noise has maybe messages beyond human aesthetic.

A sketch I did in Spring 2023. Listening back now in the Fall after not hearing it for a long time, realize that I like the flow combining ambient ideas with rhythmic elements.

I think it works in my Forest series of ambient and drone tracks.

Drawing inspiration from his first two years as a father and the recent tenth anniversary of his record label Naviar Records, sound artist Marco Sebastiano Alessi created Fukuoka Postcards, a sound installation focused on the concept of time, and how humans and landscapes perceive it differently.

Marco spent four weeks at Studio Kura in Itoshima, collecting sounds from the local nature, temples, and shrines, looking for places where time seems to have stopped. Creating a collage of soundscapes and applying minimal melodies to convey human presence, Marco aims to create organic music in an endless, ever-changing loop, to represent the impermanence of art and timelessness of nature.

Giulia Lorusso is an italian composer based in Paris. 
She studied piano and composition at the Conservatory « Giuseppe Verdi » in Milan, with Alessandro Solbiati, and in Paris where she attended the Cursus IRCAM and completed a Master’s degree at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) in the class of Frédéric Durieux. 
She was a student in the generative improvisation class held by Vincent Lê Quang.

Her production includes both instrumental and electroacoustic works integrating new technologies and exploring the relationship between performer, audience and devices as well as the relation between sound and space.
Her music has been commissioned by institutions such as IRCAM-Centre Pompidou, GMEM de Marseille, Radio France, ProQuartet, Donaueschinger Musiktage  and performed by renowned musicians as Brussels Philharmonic, Quatuor Tana, Quatuor Ditotima, Ensemble 2e2m, United Instrument of Lucilin, Yarn/Wire.

Giulia  has been artist in residence at ZKM (Zentrum für Kunst und Medien) de Karlsruhe, at the European University of Cyprus (EUC), at Royaumont Fondation (Incubator project), Fondazione Spinola-Banna per l’arte (Turin).
She is currently composer associated to the Ensemble 2e2m for the season 2023-2024.
She is recipient of the Prix SACEM Hervé Dugardin (2023).

Her catalogue includes interdisciplinary works exploring installations, interaction, experimental music theatre, collective composition. 
She collaborated with researchers (Alessandro Rudi of INRIA), philosophers (Emanuele Coccia, Rosario Diana), visual artists (Jessica Rimondi, Kesson Dalef), dancers and puppeteers (Amalia Franco).
Her interactive installation «Fabrica» has been part of the the «Réseaux Monde» exposition at Centre Pompidou (Paris) in 2021.

Giulia is also active as a teacher and pedagogue, she’s been professor invited for the first edition of the Académie MIXTE, organised by Proxima Centauri Ensemble in Bordeaux (France). 
She’s been teaching composition at the bachelor and master level in Italy at Consevatory of Pesaro  and Conservatory of Vibo Valentia .
