The song was born from the collaboration with Elisa Gastaldon, author of the beautiful text thanks to which I was able to compose my music and with the Maestro Mauro Marchetti, Conductor of the Coro Città di Roma, who beautifully interpreted the piece.

The words of Elisa Gastaldon accompany us in a journey that from the fallen stars of the sky leads us to the shells of the sunny beaches. Stars and shells are both precious gems that shine in a path that meets the regeneration that the infinite waters of the sea offer to travelers of life.

In my music all this is accompanied by an archetypal and ancient image, a woman in love, immersed in a sweet melancholy, walking on the shore of the sea, an image that came to find me in my dreams.

The Coro Città di Roma of the friend Mauro Marchetti, under the wise guidance of his Conductor, managed to express at best the tension and the emotional momentum hidden in this song.

Burning lights

This is the première of my piece "A riveder le stelle", commisionated by the Maestro Gianfranco Cambareri for the Coro Giovanile Calabrese, for the 700 years since the death of Dante Alighieri.

The song has been performed in the wonderful Cathedral of Cosenza (Italy) on September 5, 2021.

With this piece I tried to express my feelings of hope thinking about the end of all the bad moments of our Life, including the one that we all are living for over a year.

I wish you, with the Dante's words, to see the stars again!

A riveder le stelle

First snow was born from a collaboration with my sister, Marianna, who wrote the text that inspired me to compose this piece.
The text describes contrasting feelings arising from the sight of the first snow of the year. 
The first image - herons flying toward warmer lands - expresses the need for escape; the second image - the sky at sunset turning pale yellow like a withered marigold - describes instead the need to surrender to winter; the last image - the dance of reflections on the frozen pond - represents the inevitable loss of the self in the contemplation of nature, which brings peace at last to the human heart.
The music of First snow is definitely a descriptive one, in which each measure attempts to recreate the feelings or the scene evoked by the lyrics. 
In an attempt to express the sense of suspension between melancholy and sweetness, nostalgia and anticipation, I made use of a melody at the same time tonal and full of dissonances.
The initial clusters depict the appearance of freshly fallen snow, while next measures mimic the majesty of the flight, recalling the slow flapping of the herons’ wings.
The word “but” – sung with a pianissimo - marks a turning point in the piece, introducing the theme of surrendering, in which an intense expression of emotions alternate with more intimate and meditative moments.
Lastly, the music reaches its climax describing the “shining dance” of lights and shadows: through a simple melody enriched with complex dissonances, at first it shows great intensity only to gradually fade in a sort of hopeful resignation.
The Kammerchor Manila, masterfully conducted by sir Anthony Go Villanueva, brought to life my piece with a passionate and exciting performance.

 Majestic as the flight of herons 
my heart soars toward a dream of nameless shores  
But as the sky bows to dusk like one last withered marigold

The wonderful poem "At Midnight" by Sara Teasdale shows the true meaning of Life: nothing is ever ended and nothing is really won, and nothing is so good as rest. 
My piece try to express these feelings with disenchanted joy and a little melancholy.

At Midnight

In ‘Winter Stars’ Teasdale speaks on themes of change, aging, and the universe. Through very poetic and lyrical language and diction, she describes the nature of time, its inescapability, and the sorrows it can bring. By the end of the poem though, rather than depressive, the mood is contemplative and peaceful. My music wants to be a way to express all these feelings.

The wonderful words by S.t Paul the Apostle inspired this piece of mine, that wants to sing all the human kind as a family, united by the same vocation to love.

You are all one in Christ Jesus

Even if with a few words, Sappho is able to express all the strenght of the Love: the breath of the beloved is also the breath that allows you to live! I wrote a piece that wants to be romantic and intense, a hymn to life and Love.

You my soul

This is my setting of the famous prayer "Ave verum corpus". With this piece I want to convey the faith that so many people have in the mistery of the presence of Christ, truly born and crucified, in the sacrament of the Eucharist.

To descend from the heavens means to abandon eternity and to encounter space-time. According to the Christian faith this is what the Son of God did "propter nos homines et propter nostram salutem": for us men and our salvation. My piece tries to tell this unspeakable moment.

Descendit de cælis

The song gives voice to my son, a nonverbal child suffering from an autistic spectrum disorder, telling his suffering and his hopes. 
"Orange" is the symbol of his own pain. You can give to this colour the name you want, thinking about your personal sorrow. The piece is performed by Salt Lake Vocal Artists, conducted by Dr. Brady Allred.

Into the Orange

The song speaks about the complicated relationship between man and God and tries to show how is easy to lose yourself in the meanders of spirituality.
Recrimination towards a God who does not speak, nostalgia for a lost spring, invocation of beauty: Deep Blue is all this. Enjoy the music.
