CSQ: Tell us a bit about your local techno scene. How has it shaped you as an artist?

ssslumber: The techno scene in Cyprus is evolving rapidly, especially after COVID, with more demand for unconventional rave experiences like warehouse and outdoor events. The island's industrial scene has had a huge influence on me, as it's where my techno journey began. Over the past two years, I've seen the underground community grow significantly, driven by dedicated organizers and passionate attendees. It's been inspiring to be part of this raw, unfiltered energy, and I've formed special connections with people from around the world through it.

CSQ: Would you like to share anything with the listeners about the set?

ssslumber: One of my biggest challenges is not having all the gear I'd like to record sets the way I envision, so I often rely on help from others. Time is also a constraint since I juggle DJing with a full-time job and other side work. Despite these challenges, it's always worth it for me.
As far as the track selection is concerned, I really enjoy building gradual layers, tension and shifting energy into my sets. Coming from a more experimental background, I aim to normalize more experimentation in hard/industrial techno sets, so I try to apply it as much as possible. So my vision for my sets is to intertwine sounds/noise from different realms and merge them with the usual fast and heavy kicks we hear in industrial techno sets.

CSQ: How does the set reflect the development of your style and your DJing since you started?

ssslumber: Since I started, I've focused on finding my own sound, attempting to defy the expectations of a "typical" industrial techno set. While I still grapple with abiding with technical "rules," I'm more interested in pushing creative boundaries. As I begin producing my own music, I aim to reflect this in both my DJing and future tracks.
