Stations of the Cross - III - The man carrying a jar of water - L'uomo con la brocca d'acqua

A man glances through the pages of a paper.
They refer to past events having apparently no connection to each other *.
The man focuses on the impressions reverberating from each event, remembering with nostalgia every action, every experience, every image. Nevertheless, during the reading each scene starts to cast light on the others, and soon a new truth emerges, leading the man into a spiral of fear. The disclosing arrives at the end of the piece: the reality, now lacking any innocence, reveals itself to be an occult plot, a scheme unfolding with the threat and violence of a criminal power.

* The dodecaphonic technique of Schoenberg used to prescribe that the twelve-notes series not refer to any tonal centre, and that the relationship between the notes avoid any tonal ambiguity. 
In the same way I have created a series composed of ten concrete sounds, demanding that their deployment doesn't allude to any narrative, and that any cause-effect relationship is banned.

"L'anima della persona morta, nel momento stesso in cui abbandona le sue spoglie mortali, visita i corpi delle persone amate che le sono accanto.

Le anime di queste iniziano ad ardere simili ad un bosco che brucia violentemente.
    
Il loro petto si fa incandescente ed essi sentono che le loro anime sono attraversate da raggi di fuoco.

L'anima della persona appena morta è dentro di essi e, illuminando la loro vita futura, infonde loro coraggio.

[…] come le fiamme mettono in fuga le bestie malvagie […] ora, affacciati all’uscio della casa, nel buio della notte, vedono attraverso i suoi occhi.

Così essi nascono una seconda volta […]

[…] invasi dalla sua anima, in quel momento capiscono che non dovranno più avere paura, e che dalla vita futura potranno aspettare solo cose buone.

Giuseppe Iacono graduated in 2001 in Violin at the Conservatory of Naples, Italy, with Gabriela Drasarova and Aldo Matassa.
In 2003 he graduated in Composition at the Conservatory of Milan, Italy, with Paolo Rimoldi.
He also attended several Masterclasses in Composition with composers such as Ivan Fedele, Alessandro Solbiati, Claudio Ambrosini, and a Violin Masterclass at the “Scuola Civica” in Milan with Carlo Feige.
From 2002 to 2005 he studied Electronic Music at the Conservatory of Como, with Giovanni Cospito.
In 2006 he attended the Sonology Course at the Royal Conservatory in Den Haag, The Netherlands.
Giuseppe Iacono has collaborated with the filmmakers Reynold Reynolds, Silvia Schedelbauer, Vanessa Woods, Samantha Clark.
The video Way fare (directed by Sylvia Schedelbauer with music of Giuseppe Iacono) received the award for “Best Sound Design” at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, USA.
In 2011 he participated in the “48 Stunden Neukoelln” Festival, Berlin and in the “TransMediale – Art&Digital Culture Festival”, Berlin.
In the same year he followed a Violin masterclass at the UDK, Berlin, with the violinist Mo Yi, assistant of Nora Chastain.
In 2014 he partecipated with an audio installation and a violin performance to the exhibition by Italian sculptor Giovanni De Angelis at the Aragonese Castle, Ischia (Italy).
In May 2015 he has been guest of the Ohrenhoch Gallery, Berlin. 
In October 2015 he will partecipate to the ICSC 2015 (3rd International Csound Conference) in St. Petersburg with Under the Skin.
In January 2016 he has given a lecture at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustic of Graz (IEM). In the same month “La rosa incarnata del suono” was played in concert in the Minoritensaal, Graz, on the initiative of the Kulturzentrum bei den Minoriten.
In November 2016 he has been Composer in residence at the Conservatório de Música de Seia, Portugal, guest of the Festival Dias de Música Electroacústica. During this staying  he held lectures in the Conservatory of Seia and in the Conservatory of Viseu.
Giuseppe Iacono regularly performs in duo with piano and organ, or in several kinds of ensembles.
