“Call of the Unicorn” originally started out as a sound design experimentation session but ended up becoming something so much bigger. “I wrote the majority of this album during lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, and to me it represents a utopian vision of future dancefloors. That time allowed for some reflection and I decided I wanted to change direction from the typically noir aesthetics of cyberpunk (as it manifests both in the music and in my visual practice) into something more aspirational. We drew upon the aesthetics of ancient civilizations and imagined an alternate world for this album to live in. This song 'What's Her Name' in particular came later in the album's life cycle after I had written most of the other records already, but I felt it fits in with the rest of the material nicely.”
