I live on the Tureet (Durid) balug clan lands of the Dja dja wurrung people of central Victoria, Australia.

Aboriginal people have lived in this part of Australia for more than forty thousand years, three quarters of that time occurring during the last ice age.
All over this country, for more than sixty-five thousand years indigenous peoples have fostered profound relationships with their environment, a cosmology of connection I have only read about but which has changed my perception of what I see.

Like all living things I am a creature of my environment. Living among trees we share with wildlife influences the music I make, its pace and ambience.
In nature there is beauty, there is death, and a myriad of interwoven relationships. There is ‘stillness’, peace. There are storms and fires, droughts. Nature is not simple or romantic. It is alive, a process of transformation. The change is constant, inevitable, only occasionally dramatic.
I am a creature of my environment, a creature that makes music.

There are two musical projects here.
moraine: “a timing of its own’ is a collection of stories set to music, focussing on relationships and their transformation.

glacial burn: The influences here are classical, ambient and ritual.

The first album is titled ‘for the unutterable’.

There are times of beauty, grief, awe.
Times of love, shock, joy.
Times words cannot express our experience.
Moments unutterable, ineffable.

That notion is behind the decision to name with numbers subsequent compositions.
