When we talk about Luis M. Espinosa, we are talking about one of the greatest activists and musical exponents of the Madrid scene since the beginning of the nineties, being one of the most active and restless artists musically since his beginnings without wanting to pigeonhole or place limitations between musical genres or styles. Always understanding music as a whole.

Obsessed with music and cinema since he was a child, with all kinds of genres and styles, he began his journey like almost everyone else at that time, cutting and pasting songs on double cassette tapes, until he discovered the world of turntables, turntablism and scratching at the age of 10. And buying and collecting in Vinyl since the early nineties without stopping working with the Music and continue to expand its huge collection of vinyl for decades every day throughout these 44 years. Exercising his work as a DJ since the beginning of the nineties 93. Combined with his work as a promoter and catalyst of hundreds of sessions and events. Director for decades of many of the Events and Sessions.

From here on he is fully dedicated to the creation and promotion of events where eclecticism, the flight from fashion and typecasting have been the norm. It has become an important reference in the dissemination of different styles of black and electronic music in the capital. For example, we can mention the Sound City, A.I. Series, K4PHREX, Oberheinm, Electro Frequencies, Slow Motion, Round Nature & Zyrcadian Editions... cultivating and developing in a parallel way the noble art of DJing in venues such as Siroco, Café la Palma, Ballesta Club, Specka and many others throughout the country.

In 2020, he launches his publishing platform, Artificial Intelligence, a clear tribute to the memorable Warp series. Its main vocation will be to pay tribute and a sincere and heartfelt tribute to the pioneers of the early 1990s, from the first scene and generation of creators, artists and producers of the Bleep sound and pioneers of Braindance and Idm from labels such as Warp Records, Rephlex, Planet Mu and Skam Records.

...out of the woodwork - episode 58: artist mix - Shun

@ombrafestival first opened its doors a few years back. A music event based in Barcelona to celebrate all things ebm, industrial, wave, synth and dark. What else would ya want?

Rejoicing in the return of Ombra, of course cancelled in 2020 with COVID, the lads from WE FORFEIT have scoured their collections to bring the festival to those who couldn’t make it there this year. 

Robbie gets the ball rolling with the veteran synth pop of Belgium’s Parade Ground and I@Italo_Moderni’s @adrian_marth. 

@pinkmanrecords was well represented at Ombra with label boss Marsman curating the Operater stage. The imprint’s back catalogue it plumbed for this special before homegrown talent takes centre stage with El Aviador Dro and Valis on @oraculo-records. 

@credit00ratlife and June cross Robbie and Chris’ selections. Chris links his Scotttish hometown with Madrid as he serves up @brokenenglishclub’s scorched and serrated version of @esplendorgeometrico of "Rotor" released on Glasgow’s @contortyourselfnow.

Spain is well represented in this month’s show. We’re back to Madrid, or should I say Valencia now, with @frigio-records and some serious edit action from Juanpablo, @sneakerdj and @vinilette as well as Clock DVA’s brooding remix of Pragma. Barcelona’s adopted son, @neudphoto, offers an electro respite with the smouldering Indeks before Chris offers Iberian imprints like @brokntoys, @fill-lexrecords and @dearsoil. 

The mood lightens as Minimal Wave maestro @das-ding-1 offers three cold muzak productions taken from his Tear Apart Tapes label. Amin Peck, who sadly wasn’t at the festival, leads us out with his italo-wave “Suicidal.”
