Despite experiencing moments of some uncertainty across the planet, the Gladio Operations label nevertheless takes a gamble and launches its third EP titled "The Dark Phase Experience", once again opting for an EP by several renowned artists.

Latvian artist Dmitry Distant opens the EP with "Latvian Electronics" an excellent and intriguing cut of dark atmospheres, based on a very well moulded line of acid.

The renowned French producer Fleck E.S.C who has releases on labels such as Central Processing Unity or Electrix Records among others, gifts us  "Mobcoss", an extremely enigmatic track with powerful bass, which clearly breaks away from the traditional electro sound.

The British electro producer Scape One returns to Gladio with "Click Click Drone" a fantastic track where the sequences especially stand out, and which inevitably resonates with the mythical German group Kraftwerk.

The talented duo from Madrid Telephasycs!, and label owners of Rator Mute, close the EP with "Head Rush" a powerful and dark dance floor-oriented cut, beautifully infused with mysterious and captivating harmonies.

This is the first installment of new series for @DarkScienceElectro where I challenge my DJ friends all over the world to 'Define:Electro' music from their personal perspective. We all have our own definitions of what Electro means to us as individuals and this series hopes to share those perspectives with the listeners of Dark Science Electro - Over the last ten years, I have hosted tons of guest mixes featuring DJs from every corner of the globe who I’ve asked to give me their interpretation of ‘@DarkScienceElectro’ for their guest mix. Generally, in the past, when I am soliciting a guest DJ, I insist that they mix their “weirdest, darkest, coldest Electro” and that has served the show well over the years in pushing my personal narrative of the genre. For this first installment, we look to Canada for a look into the mind of @BarbiCastelvi who has been Djing for 20 years and shared stages (as both DJ and in bands) with the likes of Chromeo, Newcleus, Arabian Prince, Dj Godfather, N-ter, Egyptian Lover, Detroit in Effect, Dj Slugo, Dj Deeon, Arthur Baker, Peaches, Qbert, The Hacker and many more. She is also is part of the musical duo, @Siviyex,  with electro producer @Cryogenetic. Additionally she is one of the members of a newly rejuvenated Heinrich Mueller collaboration project Daughter Produkt.

Castelvi - Define:Electro

As his best known alias - Carl Finlow has dropped yet another electro masterpiece on the Spanish label, Fanzine Records.

Expect an EP full of transformational, industrial like synths combined with the electro rhythms that Carl’s career has come to define. His gated melodies and groovy hard-hitting drums make this EP something ethereal, with raw and industrial sounds swarming in and out of every track.

Gains is the first track of the EP, which instantly teleports us back into the world of electro. The warping melody of gated synths gives the impression that the track is the embodiment of metamorphosis. Black Ice’s melody is a lot more raw, where the track almost sets the stage for a dystopian battle between animal-like reverbs and echoed chants. It ends with a more ambient melody which overcomes the track in its aura and mood.

As the EP moves on to Exposé, the grizzly baseline, succinct hats, and distorted and sharp synths give the effect of malfunctioning terabytes; almost as if the natural elements were to react with an electronic environment. Obscura’s beat seems to bring the speed of the EP right down, as it’s mystical melody is obscured from the gritty baseline and kick. It’s mechanical and distant sounds lurk in the background of the track, which gives a sense of oncoming doom.

This EP can be described as no other than a symphony of sounds that energetically communicate with each other at every level. An impressive industrial take on the electro sound.

Obscura is set to be released on Fanzine Records, December 13th, 2019.

"As an opening act for its LP series, Dalmata Daniel presents the new album by Dutch West Coast mid-veteran Roberto Auser.

Auser has been into cinematic (or b-videomatic) electro for more than a decade now, with releases on Viewlexx, Pinkman, Gooiland Electro/Enfant Terrible and more, ranging from atmospheric and hypnotic to tight and grim, but always loaded with a vision of a storyteller. In a Dutch way, for sure. Though Second Sun is, again, an audiovisual trip, that's not the primary concept here – it's probably the purest album-like experience of Robert Auser so far, presenting most of his characteristics and sounds, and also new elements, still, all are coherent and organic parts of Auser's projective language of electronics."
