Official release VOL.2 : April 3rd 2024

MUTANT MODALITY is a new platform and music label exploring strange and cathartic forms of artistic expression - through the prism of different atmospheres. It will provide soundtracks influenced by our times, while encouraging a sense of community between like-minded artists operating across experimental and dancefloor music.

The new Brussels-based output for mutant sounds is back with a second uncompromising opus exploring different modalities of post-punk, noise-infused techno, hybrid body music, metal-adjacent drone AND BEYOND. The release party will be announced soon and... it will be at Berlin's Urban Spree on May 17th.

HOUSES OF WORSHIP 

Houses of Worship is a collaborative project featuring Montreal-based musicians Eric Quach (thisquietarmy) and Jim Demos (Hellenica). Together, they skillfully merge bass synth engines and string pads with improvised guitar drones, crafting dystopian ambient-electronic soundscapes showcased in their recent albums released by Somewherecold and Midira Records. Beyond their musical pursuits, Quach and Demos exhibit a passion for bringing their art to the public sphere. This commitment is evident in their spontaneous performances within the confines of a cube truck on the streets of Montreal, A/V sets in diverse venues across Europe, and the transformation of phone booths into interactive sound art installations. The duo wholeheartedly embraces the opportunity to engage their audience through innovative and immersive experiences.

This EP recalls the suffering and meditation about past times. Starting from a very aggressive sound which tends to renew itself, the chronicles of the lost time leads to the Stabat Mater which represents a pause for reflection. The vision of time interpreted through dark and distorted sounds creates a melancholy and gloomy immersion into it.

Boasting an international lineup, this post-punk, EBM-leaning VA release revolves predominantly at a pace of 135 BPM and features occasional outbursts of indiscernibly distorted lyrics throughout its six rough-hewed, distinctly industrial cuts.
As Last Days of S.e.x.'s-fathered and Espectra Negra-featured Phallic Mother starts off, one could be forgiven for thinking that a record with sirens of the apocalypse have been put under the needle of God's antique doomsday gramophone; breathing room is nowhere be found on this anarchic monstrosity on an aural beatdown where screeching and screaming combat to outperform the relentless drumline in gain.
