Following up his 2017 debut ‘Groover’ EP on Saved, we’re welcoming Spanish DJ and producer, Hector Couto back onto the label this month with his brand new ‘Trico Trico’ EP. Hector Couto is one of the most consistent DJs in the game, with his selective output on labels ViVA, ABODE, Snatch!, Sola and elrow, nothing short of dance floor dynamite. Couto’s sound has not stopped evolving and growing during his career, maintaining a personal and unmistakable groove of sleek, well-crafted dancefloor-orientated tracks that are full of energy and irresistible basslines. Kicking things off is title track ‘Trico Trico’ which is the perfect percussive groove, featuring rolling drums, hip swinging claps and energetic synth drops to get the dancefloor moving. ‘Mellow Burn’ wraps up the EP; composed of intricate percussion and sporadic synth stabs with hypnotic vocals and mesmerising hats.

Italian native Fabio Neural teams up with growing Columbian talent DJ Fronter on the ​Brr Baby Brr EP​. Soon to be released on Hot Creations, the three track release is a contemporary house affair that shows the natural chemistry between the two.
“We decided to point to something big, such as Hot Creations. We worked hard and put all our ideas and energies in to achieve our goal, with Brr Baby Brr being the main track of the EP.” ​Fabio Neural and DJ Fronter.
Leading with ​Brr Baby Brr​, a driving kick is soon complemented by whistling hats, before a teasing synth build up gives way to a pummelling bass driven drop. ​Silver Star comes in next with a reverberating vocal sample that’s underlined by a subtly changing bassline and warm, building pads, before ​Downtown rounds off the EP with a harder techno tone as punchy lead kicks meld with choppy, non-apologetic keys.
Having produced music since 2010, it was last year that Fabio Neural really caught the ground running with releases on two of modern house music’s leading labels: Relief and Saved. This year has been followed up with ​Brr Baby Brr​, his standout release of 2019 and his first release on Hot Creations. ​DJ Fronter is one of Columbia’s most prominent artists. Having previously performed for the Resistance party brand his DJ sets speak for themselves, whilst his knack for producing has seen him release on labels like Circus and Nervous.

'In its 29 year history, Nervous Records has built its reputation on a willingness to take chances on new producers, fresh sounds and innovative concepts. At a time when communication and collaboration between producers, artists and labels has become almost exclusively digital, Nervous decided to bring the creative process back to its roots, when creating a track meant all night writing sessions, 12 hour studio lock-outs and coffee runs that often detoured into all nightclubbing.

In 2018 the label had the idea of flying 3 separate producers from different parts of the world into the creative and musical hub of Brooklyn. That experience was so positive, and the resulting music so good, that a year later Nervous went in for Round 2. In September 2019, the label bought Germany’s Ben Delay, Lisbon's Moullinex and UK duo Trutopia together into one NYC studio to record a body of work set to be released on  April 24th, as part of the label’s new ‘Brooklyn Sessions’ EP series. 

Drawing inspiration from the dying strands of a New York summer, the dark, throbbing spirit of the world’s most iconic city is evident across all four cuts appearing on EP1 of the series. 

Opening up with the Trutopia and Moullinex collaboration ‘Galesa’, the production struts in and out of the central percussion, the single flexing and contracting relentlessly, carrying that iconic sense of drive and energy that is absolutely intrinsic to New York’s streets. On Trutopia’s solo track ’You Can Not Hold Back’, the composition bristles with energy, the British pair channeling vocalist’s Koffee’s topline across sleazy saxophone and funk-fuelled bass; on ‘Ergo’, Moullinex keeps things tight and taut, using carefully crafted snares, hi-hats, sweeping synths and a relentless, at times ominous percussion to create a dark, driving cityscape. On Ben Delay’s undulating, breathless ‘Brooklyn (Back In Time)’, which closes out the EP, wind instruments shimmers like steam rising from the city’s sidewalks as the beat grooves underneath like a rumbling subway train. 

Bringing new blood into the city and encouraging fresh collaborations between artists able to tap into the creative lifeblood of this vast, living, breathing megatropolis, Nervous Records’ dominance looks set to carry on well into its third decade. '

Glasgow Underground was set up in 1997 by Kevin McKay. He began the label releasing his own music and collaborations with friends and other Glasgow-based artists (Omid 16b, Studio Blue, DJ Q, Harri). Through his DJing and work for various music magazines (Muzik, Jockey Slut, Mixmag Update) he met some of his favourite producers of the time (Romanthony, Mateo & Matos, Idjut Boys...) and convinced some of them to join him releasing on GU. In the early 2000s, Kevin met Mylo and set up the Breastfed record label. The global success of "Destroy Rock & Roll" meant Glasgow Underground was put on hold. After leaving the Breastfed label in 2011, Kevin re-started Glasgow Underground and since then the label has gone on to re-invigorate Romanthony's catalogue with remixes from the likes of Dixon, MCDE, Gerd, Andres, Oliver Dollar, Ejeca, Audiojack, Claptone, Christian Nielsen, Supernova, Jimmy Edgar and Waifs & Strays. The label has also introduced producers like Daniel Trim, Brett Gould, Mia Dora and Illyus & Barrientos as well has releasing established & rising stars such as Metodi Hristov, Stefano Ritteri and Sabb.
