Kannst der Hinweis sein, der andre weiterführt, 
kannst die Zuflucht sein, wenn einer Ängste spürt, 
eine Hand, ein Weg, ein Licht, das warm und hell im Dunkel scheint, 
eine Rast, ein Halt, ein Trost, wenn einer weint.

The year is slowly coming to an end -
with the smell of cookies and a Christmas tree.
The guns are silent, just a dream.
We are probably too cowardly for peace.

We celebrate like every year -
whether people are starving, fleeing, dying.
We donate our money and think of the roast:
"Will he be able to succeed?"

Christmas means two faces these days.
We pretend we're angels
but we are actually looking the other way.
Are we too cowardly to help the world or just too lazy?

Reflect on what seems important.

Die Waffen schweigen, nur ein Traum.
Wir sind wahrscheinlich zu feige für den Frieden.

Wir feiern wie jedes Jahr - 
ob Menschen hungern, fliehen, sterben.

An encouraging song I wrote a few months ago: Why not just start developing your talents? We are often too shy, hide behind excuses and make ourselves small. Ein Mutmachlied, das ich vor ein paar Monaten geschrieben habe: Warum nicht einfach beginnen, seine Talente hervorzubringen? Oft sind wir zu schüchtern, verschanzen uns hinter Ausreden und machen uns klein. Dieses Lied, das ich vor einigen Monaten geschrieben habe, will alle diejenigen ermutigen, aufzuhören, schüchtern zu sein. If you were to paint a picture, what color would you put on the blank canvas?
And if you were to write a song, what would be your preferred rhythm?

I ask you because you don't start.
Why are you so shy?
You hide behind excuses and make yourself so small.
What prevents you from being a poet, or a painter, or a composer?
Just for yourself you dare, take a pen, a brush or your voice and have fun. 
Only for you. Only for you.

If you walk the path you've always walked, will you arrive?
If you think what you always think, do you get ahead?
And if you only play the one game you know, will that make you happy?

I ask you because you don't start.
Why are you so shy?
You hide behind excuses and make yourself so small.
What prevents you from being an adventurer? A philosopher? A brave player?

Dare only for yourself: 
be an adventurer, a philosopher, a brave player.
