The four track EP called "Last Saturday Night" features solid house vibes, jazz fuelled and dub influences on the groove, accompanied by a mind-blowing remix from Mogan, a catchy deep house track underlined by jazzy chords and spacy leads which remind a bit of G-funk vibes.

Premiere: Baltimore Chop - Riding Alone [PRGVSK]

This one is a double first for Shall Not Fade - the launch of the new Killer Cuts series focused on groove-heavy dancefloor fillers, and Marc Brauner’s debut on the Bristol label. 

The born-and-raised Berliner has previously released on SNF favourite Houseum, and joins the Shall Not Fade roster with a collection of classic house tracks to make you miss the clubs. Brauner covers a breadth of moods on the record, the A-side filling you up with euphoria; opener ‘Too Real’ is a gorgeous bit of lofi house tinged with funky guitar inflections and a retro feel that sweeps across the whole release. ‘Things I Did’ and ‘Tool For Lovers’ drag you out of winter and into a 90s Ibiza summer, utilising a 303 bassline and classic house stabs to warm up your dancing feet. In comparison to the warmth of the first half of the record, the B-side gets more haunting in tone, first by introducing rolling breaks in ‘I Know You Would’ and especially in ‘Tears of a Fallen Angel’. This is the emotional core of Brauner’s offering, euphoria tinged with sadness over a punchy rhythm that juxtaposes the subtle vocals woven throughout. The record closes with a hint of post-disco; ‘Neptun’ is a real groover of squelchy electro synths that is reminiscent of Patrick Cowley and the early, smoky nightclubs of New York. The bonus digital track ‘Out of Time’ carries on a similar energy - it’s a piece that doesn’t keep still, glittering with playful synth melodies and a surging cacophony of vocal samples.

Shall Not Fade’s Season Series imprint hosts Brighton-based DJ and producer Gavinco (Joe Newham) for its first long-play release - Dumont LP; a mellow yet rhythmic collection of jazz house explorations. Gavinco - real name This is his second LP in a year, and blends organic instrumentation with clubby samples. 

Dumont is a polished piece of work, smoothly produced and flowing from song to song imperceptibly like the pianist improvising to entertain punters in an uptown jazz bar. The title track is all swinging, dusty sax scattered with sharp natural keys, although the rough and ready undercurrent suggests something clubbier. It prepares you for the harder ‘Electronic Feeling’ that takes similar jazz stylization but ups the house beat; a bassiness builds into the end of the A-side with ‘Transit’ centring around saxophone loops and elevated percussion that gets hips moving. This is stripped right back for wistful guitar and soulful female vocals in ‘Sweetness’ - ‘Carry On’ acts as a meeting point between this and the danceable rest of the record, summer vibes passing through it as the pulse of house influence builds. Newham plays with Herbie Hancock-style flute trills during ‘Fusion’, vintage funk guitar rising hazily from the rhythm like a mirage. If ‘Fusion’ evokes sun-baked Balearic beaches, ‘Dévouée’ is the gentle tide cooling them, fading chord stabs mirroring placid sax. Digital bonus track ‘Estrella’ carries a layered brass section, building to a euphoric drop - though taking a sound palette from candlelit jazz clubs, this is sunshine music.
