According to Takashi Aso, aka Takashi Taka, who wrote the lyrics, the director of Victor's RCA division in 1971 called him Sawada Kenji of Hiroshima (Sawada Kenji is a Japanese singer, actor, lyricist and composer. He was asked to write lyrics for a boy called Shijo (currently a leading Japanese artist) who was debuting with the company, and from his impression of Saijo, whom he met before his debut, he felt that he was 'cool and had an aura' and wrote the lyrics for this song.
