In March of this year we saw Jimpster’s Porchlight And Rocking Chairs LP fall on expectant and eager ears, winning praise from the likes of RA, DJ Mag and Groove as well as plays and support from a host of the worlds best radio and club DJ’s. With the majority of the LP being more home listening than club-focused we decided to call in some of our favorite producers to rework a track of their choice for the dance-floors and here we present you the first part of the amazing results.

KiNK needs little introduction of course, except to say that his live set as well as his hands on hardware approach in the studio has seen him become established as one of the most exciting producers of the last couple of years. When he agreed to remix Porchlight And Rocking Chairs (a track he incidentally referred to as his favorite of the year!) we couldn’t have been happier and knew that something very special would come from it. When he got in touch to say he’d done a version but explained it was done live in one take with all the parts being tweaked in real time making it very hard to change anything we were even more intrigued and excited. As expected, what he delivered is an intense, high energy reworking full of piercing high’s and rattling lows, keeping the original chords and many of the keyboard lines in place but injecting a raw drive and improvised feel which has already seen it become a highlight of Jimpster sets this summer.

Andre Lodemann provides the perfect antidote to KiNK’s frenetic version in the form of his Towards The Seer Remix, going for a tight, emotive, late night groove which develops slowly, teasing out the arrangement and keeping things sublime and understated. Subtle bass twists and dubbed out FX build to the extended break where we’re introduced to the original’s acoustic bass riff in all it’s glory. Another brilliant Andre Lodemann production.

Since his first EP debuted in 2010, Ross Evans has been building a steady catalogue of solid releases on labels such as Get Physical, Saved Records, Cocoon Recordings, and Cécille Records, just to name a few.  Having already attained widespread respect from DJs around the world in just a few short years, Ross has managed to firmly establish his name within the community of electronic dance music.
His newest EP on Mobilee’s little sister Leena Music is another intriguing chapter in Ross Evans’ story.  True to his signature style with roots in House while adding a Techno flair, melodic undertones, and just enough funk to keep it all tightly woven together, Ross Evans has delivered another solid release.

The title track “Caliente” starts the magnificent journey; its pounding kick drum is sure to make any club roar with excitement and energy but never loses its feel-good House music vibe.  Next on our journey, we reach a more melodic detour with “Part Of The Dream,” a little softer than the title track it takes us to an imaginary dream land with melancholic synth lines and soft whispers that lead us to  “Walk Of Shame” another melodic trip but this time less dreamy and more driving with a funky bassline that adds just enough attitude to keep us moving. After taking us this far on our adventure, our final stop is, “Asylum,” a safe haven where you can feel warm and secure. A place where we can decompress from our recent adventure through a land of excitement and diversity.

Austrians Fellier Florian and Felix Brunhuber, better known as Wild Culture, have fast become two of Kittball’s most prized producers. Their arrival to the German imprint came in late 2012 with ‘For Everything’ making a prominent dent in Beatport’s Deep House chart, an immediate success which saw the duo return to the label to release a three-track EP titled ‘Faith’ featuring singer-songwriter Josh Savage as well as Kittball’s leading lady Juliet Sikora. Now as a tribute to the duo’s work Kittball present a remix package with a host of skilled producers remodelling three of the Austrian most sublime tracks. 

First off Nico Pusch takes ‘Faith’ into subterranean depths, stripping back it’s off beat percussion and replacing it with thudding four-four and waves of esoteric synths. Purple Disco Machine then deliver a renovation of ‘In You’, warping the original from its gentle and melodic vibe into one riding on a heady groove and bouncy bassline embracing a far darker tone. Lastly Wild Culture’s inaugural hit ‘For Everything’ receives a complete overhaul, whereas the original was joyous and upbeat David Jach’s remix manipulates it into a monstrous bass-driven jam with its playful vocal samples now heavily chopped and distorted to an ethereal result.
