How Much Blood

Created in 1988, Penrose's Non-Periodic Chickens was inspired by Roger Penrose's tiling of the same name.  The acyclic nature of analog sequencing was exploited to produce non-periodic loops which have an identifiable character yet never precisely repeat.  All sounds were produced using an array of Buchla 100 analog synthesizer modules including two pressure sensitive touch plate controllers.  Sounds were processed by a Sound Workshop 262 Stereo Reverb unit and recorded on an Otari 1/2" 8 track recorder with DBX noise reduction.

Overwhelm

‘Moon Seems Lost’ is the new single from Glenn Echo, the second off an EP set to be released in spring of 2020. A nod to the intimate, ‘Moon Seems Lost’ explores the topography of bodies in union.

Each verse is a different timbral season; beginning with a trio of voice, acoustic guitar, and upright bass pulling your ear close, it is elevated by a string section culminating with an interlaced groove.

Featuring Matt Gaydar (vocals, guitars, percussion), Brennan Dugan (upright bass) , Peter Brownlee (piano, percussion), Alex Travers (violin), ‘Moon Seems Lost’ radiates the warmth of a shared bed, the magic of weaving beings in relationship.

Moon Seems Lost

‘Hearth’ is the last single from Glenn Echo’s upcoming EP, Fixed Memory, out in early 2021. Highlighting the nature of transitions, ‘Hearth’ outlines a union of those annual cycles. 

Balancing the organic and artificial, electronic and acoustic, embracing and yearning, the song focuses itself as a centerpiece and a junction where two places meet. Beginning with braiding melodies and rhythmic pulses, the verses converge with a raw and intimate chorus longing. 

Featuring Matt Gaydar (vocals, guitars, drums, samples), Peter Brownlee (synth, drums), and Katie Martucci (vocals, violin), ‘Hearth’ soothes the push and pull, a reminder to fall back to center.

Hearth

Glenn Echo is an alt-folk indie project from Matt Gaydar, started in 2015. Finger style guitar, introspective lyrics, and crooning melodies make up the atmospheres of songs, creating intimate spaces for connection, reminiscent of such acts as Big Thief and Feist. Based out of Brooklyn, NY, Glenn Echo has soaked up influences from past residences, such as Nashville, TN and Northampton, MA, ultimately teaming up with engineer/producer Peter Brownlee to record an EP coming out in 2020. The project’s first single, "Overwhelm," was featured on Spotify's Fresh Finds playlist.
