Herein are nine tracks assembled from the ground up in line with our collective vision of what glitch.cool has to offer the electronic music community. Much like how our first compilation was assembled entirely from sounds in our debut sample pack, Glitch With Friends Compilation Vol. 2 follows suit with samples from our Glitch With Friends Samples Vol. 2 pack released in April 2020. Much like the original samples themselves, this music is free to download for everyone and intended to be enjoyed by all who want it.

These tracks range from ethereal to intense, from dancefloor banger to cerebral abstraction, yet all are representative of the type of sound design oriented sonic aesthetic we want to see more of in this world. A number of familiar faces return from the previous compilation, and a couple of newer names are also present. Each of these artists contributed a diverse set of sounds for the sample pack, and in turn each mangled, flipped, and churned the pack into a sonic beauty of their own creation. We hope that you enjoy listening to these tracks as much as we enjoyed putting them all together.

Glitch With Friends: Compilation Vol. 2

The concept of tradition invokes a notion of cyclicality, of a recurring ritual that remains intentionally unchanged. Solace is found in the grounding effect of repetition: the world is a maelstrom and tradition an island.
Of course, not all traditions are initiated with this express purpose by their originators. This is, in fact, true in most cases. Repetition and consistency cement themselves often by accident. The ritual is undertaken not for the sake of establishing a persistent pattern but simply because it is a good idea in itself.
Upon establishment, the tradition’s justification warps inward and begins to presuppose itself. The deed is complete because it is tradition to do so.
It is done this way because that is the way it has always been done.

For glitch.cool, this is not a trap into which we allow ourselves to fall. Novelty is, conversely, a tradition for us. The terrain of glitch is rich and varied and it would be shameful to never venture further. It is this precise commitment to a particular aesthetic that lets us unearth the artistic treasures within.
Glitch With Friends: Compilation Volume 3 is, for us, the latest ritual in a tradition in which a key constant is an inexorable expansion of our own horizons.

As with the previous entries to the series, each song is crafted solely from the respective sample pack; in this case: Glitch With Friends: Samples Volume 3. That pack - itself an exercise in collective envelope-pushing - provides the perfect sonic palette for this eclectic release.
Multidimensional basslines and deeply textural glitch wrap around pulsing beats that meander between frenetic and lumbering. Grooves give way to unrepentant walls of meticulously sculpted sound design: a blend of ambient, noise, and drone that almost certainly resembles a post-digital acapella where the human voice is replaced with digital textures.
We hear nostalgic and retrospective tributes alongside modern bass-oriented styles, where cutting-edge sound design is recontextualized into forms reminiscent of the genres latent in HYPERGLITCH’s genetic code.
In this way, we hope to showcase our roots as well as our horizons, paying tribute to the IDM, clicks and cuts, and ambient of the 90s and 00s while exploring the exciting new landscapes glitch art and the surrounding genres continue to offer.

It is only fitting that our best and weirdest sample pack yet was transformed into our best and weirdest compilation yet. We sincerely hope you derive as much enjoyment from listening to this as we did from creating it.

Glitch With Friends: Compilation Vol. 3

𐘲(𐘨)𐚎𐘲𐝥𐃀𐘡𐘴𐝂. emerged as a soft world-building project I started in an attempt to cure my almost chronic insomnia. When I turn off the light at night, my thoughts turn to The Seven Worlds and The E(x)ternals, who, with their mysterious and sometimes flawed technology, connect the worlds - for better or for worse. The E(x)ternals are extraterrestrial, starfish-like beings, their intentions are good, but their methods are paternalistic and naive. They are convinced that they are doing good when they manipulate humans to travel between The Seven Worlds through The Gray Spaces. They do it for posterity, to save humanity, and because they have killed their own World. The E(x)ternals have convinced themselves that humans will gather in Elite Groups and guide us all in a better direction. Their imagination does not reach further. They also take an extreme amount of drugs - they are completely out of it all the time, and when you even use Evil Magic, the good easily turns into evil.
𐘲(𐘨)𐚎𐘲𐝥𐃀𐘡𐘴𐝂. is a relatively free interpretation of the earliest interactions between The E(x)ternals and humans - before the Upheaval and before humans discover The E(x)ternals' lack of ethical considerations, the flaws in their systems, and their massive drug use.

We are immensely excited to welcome @Romanowitch into the glitch.cool label family.

A longtime collaborator of ours, Romanowitch has been by our side for many projects, notably Woulg's HYPERGLITCH series which showcased emerging ideas sprouting from the early days of the genre and released on venerable experimental labels Mille Plateaux and Detroit Underground.

While our more recent releases have featured artists exploring the contemporary boundaries of hyperglitch, on "A critical season substitute" Romanowitch catapults us back to the roots of glitch music - and subsequently industrial music - with a relentless assault of searing crunched-out basslines and powerful ambiences held together by colossal overdriven hip-hop grooves.

The improvised structures beaten out of hardware being pushed to its limits is in sharp contrast to the meticulously-edited digital landscapes synonymous with modern hyperglitch, and we're incredibly excited to be releasing this monumental album which for us is a journey deep into the ever-important cornerstones of heavy experimental electronic music.
