A multifaceted artist, who over his career has traversed between singer-songwriter, hit producer, DJ and curator, Ben Westbeech now arrives on Glitterbox Recordings with a fully realised artistic vision on his new album Everything Is Within You.
 
Encapsulating Ben’s appreciation of the power we all have within us to achieve joy and peace, as conveyed sonically by all the musicians involved, Everything Is Within You came together organically. His first full length solo LP since the acclaimed There’s More To Life Than This on Strictly Rhythm in 2011, Everything Is Within You showcases Ben’s artistic development as a songwriter, curator and producer as he steps into his role as producer and arranger, away from lead vocalist.

Earlier this year Dimitri From Paris partnered with NYC singer-songwriter Fiorious to release 'Music Saved My Life' on Glitterbox. The record showcased Fiorious' impassioned vocal, which paired with Dimitri's meticulous production made for a perfect match, successfully celebrating music's ability to provide sanctuary and liberate. Now one of Chicago's finest, Marshall Jefferson, takes on remix duties for 'Music Saved My Life'. A producer often described as one of 'house music's founding fathers', known for the creation of some of the genre's most loved records including 'Move Your Body', which remains a staple dance anthem to this day, Jefferson once again accounts for his legend status on this latest delivery. Acclaimed producers A-Trak and Dave 1 return as The Brothers Macklovitch, remixing Flight Facilities & DRAMA’s Glitterbox single ‘Dancing On My Own’. Formed from a love of crate digging and underground gems, the GRAMMY-nominated A-Trak and Chromeo’s Dave 1 have delivered their funk-laden sound inspired by their formative years across the globe at the very best clubs. The Montreal duo now step up on Glitterbox Recordings to remix an international collaboration between award-winning Australian duo Flight Facilities and Chicago duo DRAMA from 2024. The original ‘Dancing On My Own’ was heard around the world on Radio FG in France, Triple J in Australia and BBC Radio 2 in the UK. What is there to say about an iconic track like ‘Lola’s Theme’; a song that has transcended time, genres and trends since it was released in 2004. Thirteen years later and still sounding as relevant as ever, The Shapeshifters present a fresh Recut especially for the burgeoning Glitterbox Recordings imprint. 

The ‘Recut’ itself, from The Shapeshifters themselves (aka Max Reich and Simon Marlin) is a tougher club version which comes along with a ‘Radio Edit’. Purple Disco Machine gives his customary blissed-out disco vibes, amped up by sumptuously saturated instrumentals and a live, festival feel. German producer Superlover, who is a familiar face on labels such as Suara and Mother, gets creative with the bassline, producing a deeper-reaching remix that still maintains the euphoric feel. Finally, Dr Packer adds instrumentation, filtering the vocal to create the nostalgic, early 2000s feel, brought to a climax by a textbook keyboard solo. Recruiting two seasoned masters of the disco edit and Glitterbox favourites Dr Packer and Purple Disco Machine as well as king of tight grooves Superlover, ‘Lola’s Theme Recut’ is the perfect 2017 update to a timeless work of art.

Rarely does an artist pay homage to the classics like Dimitri From Paris. The Grammy nominated producer, remixer, composer and DJ has made every one of his repertoire of reworks sound effortless; no mean feat when the original tracks are by the likes of Disco’s greatest musicians. He has a long history of remixing classic records, starting in the late 80s and culminating in this achievement of a lifetime, ‘Dimitri From Paris presents Le CHIC Remix’.


This 20-track album features three brand new remixes alongside the much-loved essentials all brilliantly remastered for 2018, tracks that have resonated with artists from Frankie Knuckles to Disclosure, Gilles Peterson to Mark Ronson. Alongside the remixes are instrumentals of each (four of which are previously unreleased), for the ultimate bumper pack. For this project Dimitri was entrusted to use the original studio masters from circa 1978 - 1980 that feature all of the individually recorded musical and vocal elements. The songs have been respectfully remastered, unveiling never-before-heard performances, turning the spotlight on the beautiful orchestrations of one the most unique and highly-revered production duos of the Disco era and beyond; Nile Rodgers & Bernard Edwards, along with their CHIC Organization of musicians. 
Kicking off with the unmistakeable CHIC staple ‘Le Freak’, Dimitri’s timeless remix making the exquisite instrumental harmonies shine like only Dimitri can, the album delves next into ‘Lost In Music’ and CHIC’s classic ‘I Want Your Love’. Norma Jean Wright’s life-affirming ‘Saturday’, written by CHIC along with Robert L Cotter in 1978, has been remixed by Dimitri to cinematic proportions, the climax of many of his DJ sets. Sister Sledge’s ‘He’s The Greatest Dancer’ is given the Dimitri treatment with a new extended mix, drawing out the string motifs, showcasing unheard sections from the original master tapes, sounding better than ever. Further exclusives include ‘My Forbidden Lover’ and another Sister Sledge masterpiece, ‘Got To Love Somebody’ with cowbell and horns resplendent. More highlights include a new remaster of Sister Sledge’s evergreen ‘Thinking Of You’ and the final track, an underdog from French chanson singer turned one-time Disco act, Sheila & B. Devotion ‘Your Love Is Good’, a euphoric high to close on and another track using elements from never-heard-before recorded outtakes.

Through Disco grooves and meticulously reverent production, ‘Dimitri From Paris presents Le CHIC Remix’ gets to the heart of why CHIC’s music remains so universally relevant, underlining the enduring cultural significance of dance music in its most unabashed form. This album is a demonstration of how captivating the sound of a full orchestra of musicians can be, compared to today’s largely computer generated offerings, celebrating the eternally endearing qualities of some of CHIC’s best-selling productions, not to mention, for over 40 years, the unquestionable power of a great Disco record.
