Breathing in the Dark

The last and final Part IV of Reasons 04 stays true to what we promised to deliver with our VA: 4 more reasons to dance.

Opening duties are for HOMIEZ, who on the back of his EP earlier in 2025, delivers another trademark dance-floor bomb with his 'In My Mind'. Straight-forward, dynamic and pulsating the track navigates successfully through moments of peak-time dancing and moments that let you take a breath before the next irresistibly danceable drop.

After her beautiful Ignota EP for Urge To Dance, we could not resist and had to have more of MANTi. This time, with 'Closure', she showcases another, more driving and darkly emotional side of her music. A powerful and uncompromising track, 'Closure' is an impressive percussive journey, offering shifting textures and cinematic tension - a real peak-time dance-floor stomper. 

Sebastian Duarte returns to our VA series with his Misterio. Pulsating bass-lines, proper groove and steady flow of energy captive the late night party emotions. A fine balance between depth and atmospheric vibes, Misterio delivers what you would expect from the Miami-based Artist.

Last, but not least, we are closing our annual VA with What You Want - a mesmerising debut by Mauricio Haddad. A driving, yet somehow, slightly hypnotic cut, What You Want blends richness of drums and percussions, with dreamy synths and a mysterious vocal for an emotional anthem-like closing of our annual Reasons 04!

Weekend Heroes - D-Compression (Matan Caspi Remix) [PREVIEW]

Romanian DJ and producer Cryss debuts on Bonzai Progressive with the superb Simple Pleasure which comes backed up with two top notch remixes from Bob The Groove and Mendexx. Cryss comes from a musical family and this exposure has nourished his passion for music. He learned guitar and keyboards before finding his way into DJing and then producing. With several releases on various labels we're delighted to have him on board at Bonzai Progressive.

The Original Mix intros with a nice pounding kick drum along with cool shuffling hi hats and various percussions. A distant melodic arp begins to rise and is soon joined by a warm, probing bassline. The bassline morphs and transforms with a little help from some filtering as subtle guitar riffs and sweeping pads join in. A super tight slice from start to finish that will sit perfectly in any set bringing a smooth deep vibe.

Bob The Groove returns to Bonzai Progressive on the remix and once again he shows us his superb talents in the studio. The intro boasts a deep droning bass that takes hold, drawing you in alongside nice chunky kicks and crispy hi hats. Mesmeric pads fill the background and continue for the duration becoming prominent on the break as they blend effortlessly with hypnotic vocals. The result is cosmic bliss that will definitely be a welcome addition in any late night set.

Scottish DJ and producer Mendexx delivers a superb deep progressive remix that will not disappoint. Mendexx returns to Bonzai Progressive after his last outing Mutate performed very well indeed. Here he takes us on a sublime prog journey that sets out with superb punchy kick drums and crispy hi hats. A stabbing, probing bassline soon comes through and we're hooked. The bassline is joined by cool synth stabs and subtle vocals that add an air of mystery to the track. Rich strings sweep through and on the break we find intriguing melodies that linger for the duration. Top notch stuff not to be missed.

Tim Robert - We're Good Together EP // Suffused Music [SMD179]

The 179th release on Suffused Music welcomes Tim Robert back to the label for a brand new single. The NYC based artist last appeared on the Lithuanian imprint with his 'Changes Fast' single which was released in July of 2016. Now making his much anticipated return to Suffused Music, Tim presents his latest single entitled 'We're Good Together' alongside remixes from Alex Vidal and Pacco & Rudy B. 

Long regarded as one of the USA's best progressive house artists Tim's discography is filled with compelling creations. Following an appearance on Lonya's Asymmetric Recordings, Tim's latest 'We're Good Together' looks sets to be his best and most anticipated to date. The energy is infectious from the outset with a warm, rolling groove and stunning synth work immediately catching your ear. Vocal elements get teased in and then fully realized during a timely break. Dramatic and poignant in equal measure, the tracks centrepiece is a kaleidoscope of emotions, peaking with acidic growls before dropping into an energy bridge of cosmic colour. Certainly Tim's most accomplished work to date and one you're likely to be hearing a lot over the summer months. 

The first interpretation of 'We're Good Together' is provided by Alex Vidal who is making his seventh appearance on the label. Last appearing with a stellar interpretation of Subconscious Tales in November of last year the Spanish artist now presents his most intriguing remix project to date. Evidenced by his long history with Bonzai Records, Alex has always treaded the waters between progressive and trance with remarkable ease. For his 'We're Good Together' interpretation the Spanish artist goes a touch deeper but equally driving. Reprocessed vocals add both trippy and emotive moments as the first act unfolds before ultimately coming to full fruition during the main break. Haunting pads and a stylish arp carry the dramatic tension wonderfully before a wave of white noise sends a rush of beats into an euphoric third act.

The second and final interpretation of 'We're Good Together' is provided by Pacco & Rudy B who are making their second appearance on Suffused Music. The Croatian duo have found a home on Proton's Particles imprint and A Must Have where their unique take on progressive house has flourished. A decade long career makes them one of the genre's most storied duo's with their Suffused Music remix debut perhaps long overdue. It has been well worth the wait however as Pacco & Rudy B have crafted something extra special here, taking 'We're Good Together' into smooth, meditative and utterly charming territory. Wispy, chopped up vocals play off the tightly knit framework building a strong rhythmic core, before the first of two breaks brings the full vocal complement. Hypnotic synths further the storyboard with a buzzing tension before the kick drops and the hazy harmonies take you home. A stunning interpretation from Pacco and Rudy and there is also a Dub version included for the less vocally inclined, closing out what is a superb package from Suffused Music once again. Highly Recommended.
