The Ancient New is Holed Coin's first E.P. on Scorpios Music. Expectations and preconceptions were all dashed into a haze when Holed Coin produced it with total creative freedom given to each musician - Miguelo Delgado’s guitars and María García’s cello and vocals in particular seem to pull the music in and out of various dreamlike states on a whim.

The result is abundant, with beach-ready electronica jostling with bluesy and soulful tones and the occasional soupçon of gospel. The Ancient New compels the listener to dance individualistically, think pluralistically, and simply be.
Holed Coin is the creation of Seville DJ and musician Jose Carlos Acal Blanco. Jose tells stories and invokes feelings in the listener with a fusion of organic and electronic sounds — duties shared by synthesisers, drum machines, and field recordings, as well as the guitar of Antonio Malavé, the contrabass of Roberto Barroso, and the voice of María García.

In solo sets or group performances in Berlin, Rome, Ibiza, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Madrid, and others, Holed Coin shares energies full of ethnic rhythms drawing influence from downtempo and electronic world music.

Holed Coin’s first EP was released in 2014 by Sonora Records and since then their tracks have been published by labels like Bar25, Pipe & Pocket, Earthly Delights, Ready Mix Records, Lndkhn, Dream Awake, Lebensfreude Records, Nifu Nifa Records, Underyourskin Records, Lump Records, Cosmic Awakenings, Heimlich and more.

As the Southern Hemisphere inches towards summer, Sanoi and Rattler have delivered a perfect soundtrack for long days dancing in the Antipodean sun. Sampling Edwin Starr and channelling El Topo, 'Walking' is a gritty, galloping hero's journey into the sweatiest expanses of the deep house desert.

Sanoi is a Berlin artist now residing in New Zealand, where he's spent the last two years churning out festival-friendly releases for Bar 25, Stil Vor Talent, and Beat & Path. There's a strong theme of desert enlightenment running through Sanoi's repertoire, and this should appeal to fans of Sol Selectas, Acid Pauli and Bedouin.

For the A-side, Sanoi joins up with Jake Rattler from Waihi Beach, a festival regular whose 'Ball Pit' sessions on Noize Radio deliver strong underground deep house. Between them, Sanoi and Rattler have created something pulsating and groove-centred while tilting towards mysticism. A real behemoth of a bassline – all sinews and stomping feet – pulls the track along until Starr's lyrics drop in. At the same moment, a shimmering arpeggio starts to rise, offsetting the grunt of the track's low end. The rest of the track is a joyous tumble between these elements, celestial and gristly all at once, like a perfect day's dancing at a dusty midsummer festival.
