After the most severe typhoon in recorded history hit the Philippines last November, hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes and lack access to food, or fresh water. This EP dismantles Plantrae’s sound, honing in on, and developing primary elements, while simultaneously exploring new experimental niches between genre and future. The sound occupies numerous spaces, simultaneously conjuring the rotten neon stimulation of life in societies pulsating hubs, as well as the lush blooming of wild plants in any forest. There are thick, dizzying moments drenched with tension and doubt, and pastel sunny feels that will make you want to keep breathing for at least one more day. Sorbet for the Soul is a collaboration between Globular (UK) (www.facebook.com/Globular) and Radioactive Sandwich (USA) (www.radioactivesandwich.com). This project came about from the desire to combine their amazing talents to create a very special conceptual release. Each artist started with the same set of samples and built their tracks around those sounds. Globular cooked up Lemon, while Radioactive Sandwich provided the tasty Mango. They then traded tracks and reinterpreted the other’s original track. Globular created Mamon from Mango, and Radioactive Sandwich created Lengo from Lemon. The end product is a 4 song EP that flows and blends seamlessly, each track containing flavors from the others, much like a tasty summer frozen treat. The artwork was provided by the insanely talented Sid Basu (www.sidbasu.com).
