Writing from another hotel. Living out of a suitcase is pretty much a Luieland specialty. I split my time between SFbay and LA and haven't put away my toiletries bag in 2 years. In order to track certain things while mobile, I got this cute little Launchkey Mini (http://us.novationmusic.com/keys/launchkey-mini# ) & started trying out Ableton. I very love it! Rhythm tracks were locking in nicely, the padding and guitars and weird noises were fine, changed the key down a 4th to better fit my voice, and i usually track all 80 vocals 2nd to last, the little instrumental lead parts are done at the very end. frosting. 

So I'm singing.. and something isn't right. in fact it still doesn't sound right to me yet. I noticed that I wasn't hearing the key or feeling it in my voice(it's in C minor/Eb maj). I heard pitches, but I couldn't accurately identify the "Locks" in my voice - where the voice locks into a key and sings all the notes freely without intellectual work. I've heard myself go sharp, though I'm relentless with self-correction to stay center in the note. So being consistently sharp by an audible half a tone scared the living shit out of me. I noticed it was only in C minor, not in Eb maj as you might hear in the song. BUT YO THAT"S THE SAME. I KNOOOOWW. I'd change the key, and suddenly i'd be fine, i could both hear and lock in. So this became heavily investigative... though i'm still super confused.

Am I just aurally tired? ok lets rest. 
Next day - Same problems.
Listen record listen record. ok i think it's in tune.
Next day - NO IT'S REALLY NOT.
It was this total trap with no way out 'cause ears (input) and voice (output) is a connected loop on an island.

so who knows. C minor hates me and I'm ok with that.
