As macabre as it seems when I wrote this song, I was obsessed with serial killers for some reason or another but specifically, Jack the Ripper. I was fascinated by a man who became infamous for slaughtering his victims but it wasn't because of his crimes. More so because nothing concrete was known about Jack the Ripper. His motives, his identity, whatever it was that motivated him drove my curiosity. I mentally traveled back to 1888 and thought about what it could have been like to be this unknown assailant in London. I used some dark sounding synths and melancholic guitar riffs. The chorus effect on the vocals was essential in creating that haunting sound and since all of his victims where women I knew I wanted to have a female choir with long, drawn out cries. Rattlesnakes was the outcome.
