glosssd is a London-based dj with a fondness for all things wonky, bassy, broken and dancefloor-focussed. She digs into all sorts of sideways club sounds in her residency on Voices Radio, and this year has played at parties by The Beatriarchy, Funky Adjacent and Flash in the Pan.

This mix she’s sent over is an ode to heavy legs in the early hours of the morning. Full of big crunchy textures, it starts with sluggish and dancehall-twinged drums before finding some energy and going into full pelt blistering bass.

TB-316 is the founder of dyke night Silicone Carbide and has played many great Sheff parties like Communion and Leatherdyke. She’s a devotee of strange, industrial sounds and polyrhythmic club deconstructions – with a healthy sprinkling of sleaze. And this guest mix is no exception.

It’s a Field Maneuvers special this month. We’re speeding through some fav track IDs from the weekend before locking into a ridiculously good, seriously hard guest mix from the incredible Eula, who opened up the lake stage on Friday afternoon. 

The GAYTORADE founder draws us into her eclectic sonic world, swirling through genres and tempos and blending angsty, high-energy sounds with moments of rave-y euphoria. No one does it like her!!!!

 Off-centre takes a sideways step into club music and seeks out all sounds hard, wonky and wonderful. Spooky season’s arrived early with this wonderfully off-kilter guest mix from the incredible the butcher bird.

the butcher bird is a multi-genre DJ with a penchant for the meatier corners of electronic music. She’s also a fellow Voices resident — go check out her show Dystopia Euphoria for more dubby and dark sounds. 

She’s also provided us with a story to set the tone for the mix: You’ve taken hallucinogens with your friends and gone to the funfair. You follow some clowns into a house of mirrors and everything is wonky and weird, you can’t stop laughing. Then one of the clowns leans in and whispers that some people never leave. The house gets dark, the mirrors warp and things become twisted. Your trip takes a turn. Your friends are gone, and you’re surrounded by strangers who are laughing and pointing - oh god, are they laughing at you? Your pulse is racing, you’re sweating through your t-shirt and you’re dogged by the faint fear that you might have shat yourself. It feels like you’ve spent a whole lifetime in this fucked up house, and you start to think you might be stuck there forever. Then the peak passes and your trip ebbs and things start to feel a bit more normal again. You no longer want to puke and you find your friends in one of the upstairs rooms, giggling at an abandoned hotdog on the floor. All sausage, no bun. You finally make it out of the haunted house. Afterwards, you all sit on the grass and chat but something isn’t right. You go home, go to bed and fall asleep. Then, in the dead of night, you wake. Something is there, with you, in your room. You strain your ears and in the darkness, hear the faint tinkling of the funhouse…
