For our 10th GlossyCast edition we have the huge pleasure to present a super exciting duo of Italian diggers: Ultimo Tango, also known as Luca and Simo. All the way from new age, ambient to obscure disco or italo-house, these guys dust off amazing sounds from all over the world.

About them:
Ultimo Tango is a Milan based collective focused on cultural divulgation.
What started as a monthly gathering among friends has slowly evolved into one of the most beloved music content pages of the Instagram.

For this first official mix to date, founders Luca and Simone delve inside their archives of trip-hop, acid infused downtempo and breaks - the result is a one hour uplifting soundtrack of muddy, dark and somehow sexy atmospheres that could be out of a 90s movie like “Hackers” of “Fight Club”.

Recorded live at Brilliant Corners, London, for this Glossycast we count on the founder of the label, Glossy Mario.  Five hours of a pleasant selection of jazz, disco, funk, balearic and fusion. 

"I brought some of my favorites jazz and groovie records. I started building a listening experience to then turn it into a danceable one. Finally everybody got off their chairs and started dancing to these blend of records of different genres and places. Expect lots of Spanish ones tho!"

Based in Kobe, she is part of one of our favorite record shops in Osaka:  RECORD SHOP Rare Groove.

She built her career mostly in Kobe and she used to live
in Toronto in 2019 and active as a DJ.

Focusing on Chicago house, Italo disco and weird music, attracting attention with her uniquely interpreted electro-mysterious play style a unique way of her own.

Cutriños is a collective based in Madrid with focus in unveiling cassette gems, specially from the African continent and the Middle East. Their work is outstanding when it comes to digging, unveiling those kinds of records that are not even on Discogs. World music doesn't get deeper than their duties.

A killer selection by one of the founders of the collective Pitaya Soundsystem, based in Paris. Expect progressive sounds, deep percussions and sensual vocals blended with the Italian touch and hints of Balearic.

While in France, Guidon discovers and develops his music universe.
Sailing between cosmic sounds and wrapping grooves, deep into more raw and progressive productions . For this Glossycast he prepared a selection in a steady growing mood.

Name a more iconic Iberian duo. Wait, name a more iconic siblings duo. But are they really brothers? Who cares when you just encounter two maestros of the Spanish scene: Dos Hermanos. Consisted of Lier & Texture, a mighty Galician-Andalusi connection in charge of one of the most explosive collectives and parties: Ego-Trip. Truly diggers and top record spinners, an honor to host them on our mix series. 

This podcast was recorded live at festival Jaleo Real last summer (2023), an idyllic retreat in Ávila, and it goes without saying that it was in our humble opinion one of the top sets, on a carefully selected trip all the way from funk, balearic, world, hip-hop to the roots of house.

If you sit down, you better shake it.

Founder of the mighty party and event organizer Tombolo, beloved Madrid local hero OG Juan is a one to follow (not in the social media way, tho). He has been promoting and working the club scene for more than 10 years. Programmer and curator of different projects, he started setting up raves and underground events in 2012, right when some of us were learning how to spin. He has brought more than 200 international artists from all kinds of music genres throughout his career including Mezerg, Orlando Julius, Fatima, Yussef Dayes, or Egyptian Lover.

For this set, he has prepared a banger after banger vibe with all shorts of roots within house with a deep feel for the classics. Pretty much what you expect to hear on one of his atomic sets.

A percussive trip to the roots of New Age

“Total” is an obscure masterpiece by ethnic percussion group Om Buschman. Tribal rhythms, spiritual jazz and organic grooves melt together in this unique LP. 

Recorded in Germany in 1989, this glossy 180gr LP Original Edition copy was lost and then found in a warehouse, next to other matte finish covers, that never got distributed. 

As the band member Tom Schäfer explains: 
“Total as a will to embrace the whole musical universe. “Om Buschman” refers to the wide spectrum between the Oriental OM and the African “Buschman” beat. The field of tension between meditative sounds of Minimalism and raging rhythms. Om Buschman  is a polarization of the meditative-spiritual OM and the African down-to-earth beat.”

Imagine standing on an empty room. Nothing seems to be moving.
There is not a single noise there. Just a wooden door. You it and
you find a space full of color, movement. You can see a few bodies
swaying. You can hear clearly a melody. A beautiful vocal. Several
palm trees arise. You find yourself in the middle of one of the most
beautiful paradises on earth, Martinique Island.

What you are hearing is Raphäel Toiné’s “Ce Ta Ou / Sud Africa
Révolution”, one of the most gorgeous Zouk albums ever made.
Funk arrangements, fat bass &amp; crazy synths all melt together in a
record that transports the dancer to a remote piece of land in
the middle of the Caribbean.

This rare afro-boogie and Zouk synth funky LP was recorded in
Switzerland in 1986 by this incredible artist that knew how to
condense the vibe and lifestyle of a region in a piece of black gold.
"Dread vibrations" or "Sortilège", two of the seven cuts that
compose this work are both ready to delight a listener on the
prettiest sun rise as well as make dancers drool at the end of a
three-day festival.

"Femmes pays douces", played by Antal in many shows, is an impressive exercise where vocals
decorate a melodic instrumentation that could be listened in loop
forever. &quot;Bizness a Bangkok&quot; is a synth and jazzy masterpiece that captures the 80s pure essence and brings peace to the body and mind.

We are a local record label based in Madrid, born in 2019.

The label name comes from the mistakes unveiling the extraordinary. Our first release from Om Buschman was possible due to the finding of hundreds of original copies with matte covers in a warehouse. Those never got distributed because of the printing error, therefore Glossy Mistakes.
