So here I am, happily an album older, introducing the first of Adamant's remix packages.

Since the whole project was, generally-speaking, "a personal affair" and a lot of the album was not necessarily "club-ready" (does that even make sense?), we invited our friends on board to do the dirty deeds for me and rework my sounds into something normal people can dance to.

First up are Mind Against. I've known these guys for a long time, and despite them being somewhat "new" to the scene, I clearly remember them fiddling around with cheap cracked software like the rest of us Milanese idiots around the same time. Matured into true synth magicians, they've been years in the making and, if you ask me, it shows.

Next is Alex Smoke, who I believe needs no introduction. Probably one of my biggest influences, I have been a fan for ages and he is the reason I discovered Vakant. In case you've been living under a rock, after a little break he's now back with a bang, responsible for probably one of the year's best LPs (as Wraetlic), an outstanding EP on the legendary R&S and now this. I've had the pleasure of finally meeting and hanging out with Alex a few times while we were both living in Berlin and I have to say he's exactly as awesome. His remix totally destroys my original, which I thought sounded "fat" but now sounds like a skinny girl in Barbie clothes in comparison.

Lake People (actually just one Lake Person, Martin Enke) is another really nice guy who just happens to make great music. After months of people telling me I should check his stuff out, mentioning we had a lot of things (sound-wise) in common, I had the pleasure of playing after him in Paris. His liveset totally rocked the place and I've been a fan since, so it was a pleasure to have him on board.

Last but not least, new Vakant boys Sons of Tiki round off the package with a club-oriented version of "Blackened".

I guess that's all. I'm not very good at this marketing hype thing, and upon re-reading this it actually made little sense, nor is it particularly inviting. Whatever the case I hope you enjoy listening, playing or partying to this as much as we did making it: I assure you the music is better than this writing.

Infusing sultry sounds and rich grooves, is Soul Button's latest EP ‘Swift Minds’. It's his first Steyoyoke release for 2014 and once again, it's those soaring melodies and uplifting vibes that will have every deep house lover feeling satisfied in no time. Comprising of two originals and two remixes from up and comers Dahu and Whomi, it is with no surprise that ‘Swift Minds’ is launched with much anticipation.

The title track ‘Swift Minds’ is both vibrant and bold, bringing with it a strong sense of great depth and beauty. Possessing a steady bass line and deep haunting riffs, it is also delicately laced with the lullaby styled vocals of Kara Square. The power behind her voice, literally draws you in and attunes your ears to a chorus of divine whispers.

‘7th Heaven’ is quickly defined by it's intensity and subtle progression. Creating a solid backdrop of uplifting grooves, this track has the presence and strength to put a spell on you. Stabbing synths and hard hitting hats are complimented perfectly with an array of harmonious bells and chimes which wash over you like a melodic wave.

In a mirrored parallel of ‘Swift Minds’, Whomi's remix maintains all the sultry characteristics of it's original. However it is a much punchier version, allowing for some of the tracks more unique features to surface. Expect darker soundscapes and intricately layered percussion.

The final track on ‘Swift Minds’ is Dahu's remix of ‘7th Heaven’. Silver lined with authentic underground sounds, Dahu chooses a slightly more stripped back approach for this remix. Raw dark melodies and hefty bass lines are the key elements in revealing this tracks inner twisted elegance.

Steyoyoke's Family Affair Vol.03 continues its tradition and delivers a remix compilation like no other. Bringing together a collective of musically spirited minds, each artist has created their own interpretations from some of Steyoyoke's best tracks over the last 12 months.

First up Soul Button dishes out his remix of Dahu's ‘North’, which maintains the originals dark twisted elegance, however Soul Button adds a little extra percussive shine to this track. 

Track number two is Nick Devon's version of Soul Button & Sasch's ‘Unfold’. With relentless drive and energy, this remix is perfectly balanced with plenty of warm synths and uplifting chord progressions. 

Sasch takes on the next remix, which is for Dahu's ‘How Do They Know’. Sasch brings an upbeat disco tech vibe to this track, with decadent melodies and a killer drop.

Soul Button & Sasch's ‘Little People’ is remixed by Dahu and with it's upfront bass lines and dirty dark grooves, it draws you in with it's underground techno sound.

The fifth track is BLANCAh's ‘Who's That’ and it's MPathy who steps up, creating a beautifully crafted remix that has a lot of bounce and punch to it. This track is clean, crisp and totally organic in its overall sound and feel.

The last remix is from BLANCAh, offering up her version of Sasch's ‘Missing You’. With finely woven soundscapes and intricate layering, BLANCAh extracts some of the darkest elements of 'Missing You', adding a whole new dimension and depth to this track.

Steyoyoke Black continues to make its presence known and with the wind of success in their sails they charge full steam ahead with their second release, which has already featured in Finnbassen's latest BBC Radio 1 podcast for Pete Tong. The 'Tranquila' EP by Pete Oak features one original and one remix, with Dahu stepping forth for remix duties. 'Tranquila' is an EP that brings together not one, but two princes of darkness who perfectly reflect the sinister sounds now bound to Steyoyoke Black.

'Tranquilla' is an ode to Pete Oak's production skills and is indeed something to be admired. The rhythm is sharp, intense and demanding, with a heavy dose of percussion to help accentuate a strong sense of mystique and power. The bassline rolls and lolls, sucking into a hole of techno driven darkness. 

Dahu's remix can best be described as liquid gold to the ears. He chooses to expose 'Tranquila's underlying attitude and majestic beauty, which makes you want to close your eyes at times to fully absorb its melodic groove. Strings, high hats and layered synths overlap a cascade of chord progressions, that gradually push you to a point of no return.

Well known for their unique concepts and ideas, Steyoyoke continues to surge forward and launches yet another annual vinyl project. 'Couple Affair' is both innovative and exciting, as it channels all the skills and talent already residing within the label. Two artists are paired together to collaborate on one track, allowing Steyoyoke to streamline their skills and co produce freely within the realms of the family. The outcome is four polished originals, all exclusively created for the Steyoyoke 'Couple Affair' vinyl series.
 
'Couple Affair 01' sees Nick Devon teamed up with BLANCAh, Dahu with MPathy and Soul Button works along side both, Nick Devon and BLANCAh, for a collaboration with each of them. 

Soul Button & BLANCAh kick things off with 'Rising Silence', an unmistakably simple track that is beautifully balanced between dreamy synth lines, clean hitting drums and layers of snappy high hats. It's hauntingly delicate with embellishments of intensity and emotional longing.

The 'Shattered' collaboration shows Dahu staying true to his roots and reveals MPathy's more sinister side. Infiltrated with a strong techno presence, this track also carries a subtle progression to it, which is built upon a tapestry of dark chord progressions and murky soundscapes.

The Soul Button & Nick Devon partnership gives birth to 'Fading Light', a wholesome melodic track which is generously crafted with that ever present and distinguished Steyoyoke sound.  Alluringly, hypnotic and almost trance inducing, this track is all-consuming and confines you to place of refined aural pleasures.

The last duo of artists to team up are Nick Devon & BLANCAh with their creation 'Harmstrings'. Well defined by its vigorous energy, 'Harmstrings' is the type of track that induces a heightened sense of mystery and broodiness. The melody is both dark and ominous, with a backdrop of swirling synths and stabbing percussion.

Holland's Egbert goes heavy on the cowbell and makes the most out of the original's manifold refrains, extracting the maximum energy from the sounds therein and fusing them to a funk-fuelled groove that fans of Joris Voorn will likely appreciate. His remix builds pleasingly, utilising the original's parts in gradual fashion to reach a fever pitch.
