Kelp Dream

During a couple of trips to South Africa I had this weird sensation of being at home and in a parallel universe at the same time. Everything reminded me of South-western Australia's ancient landscapes, until I got up close and realised I could have been on another planet. And oh, the melktarts of Cape Town.

This tune tips the hat towards South African urban Maskandi. It was also an opportunity to write something especially for Iris, a six piece a capella group, to perform with me. It is a joy and privilege to perform with these brash, beautiful women.
