And here we go, far out and yet so near, the third edition of “Risks Issues Opportunities” brings frontier reverberations scratching at the edges of dance, pop, downbeat, and other trance- portive sectors. Eight fast/slow propelling tracks. Adventurous, full of grandeur, gratifying the dance floor while equally winning the relaxation zones. Pure emotions crafted by newcomers. There is Milan’s Tagliabue, trancing slow and insightful. Or Cologne’s Grischerr, eloquently Tolouse-Low-Traxing. Some go down the slow burning road, where rhythms hang low, and suspense is in full show. Like London’s Frank Rodas, Garnu Depot from Iran, or Xei Ju from the islands of Micronesia, striking all ears with ghostly transcendental percussive science. An autumnally global voyage, which likewise offers industrialized districts by Italian producer Federico Cassetta, Metropolis minimal wave pop by Japanese musician Saeko Killy, or odd swamp funk by Chilean/German duo 7697 Miles. They all show, how far you can go, without losing your distinct flow.

RIO13 V.A. Risks Issues Opportunities III

A frosty morning in the middle of winter. A small park not far from your home: pine trees with snow caps and a ski tracks parallel to the footpaths. You're wearing an unloved heavy sheepskin coat (but it's so cool to draw patterns on it with your fingers) and fleece pants which make funny rustle noises. The sky is so blue it hurts to look at it. You're riding on the sled down the steep slope of a dried up pond. The wind whistles in your ears and your eyes become watery because of the cold wind. Somewhere behind your back standing your parents: mother has a blush on her cheeks, father has probably pulled out a pack of «Marlboro». After all of that there will be hot tea from a Chinese thermos and a marmalade candies, which lying now in cellophane bag.

Would it ever get any better? Of course it will. For example, when in a couple of decades you turn on the 5/8 mix: radio by Lay-Far, music producer, DJ, owner of In-Beat-Ween Music label and author of the album «True, Necessary, Kind» (we’re highly recommended to turn it on right after the mix)

Kvrk's live and dj sets are an excursion through the spectrums of house, techno, electro, ebm sounds. Deep, spacey textures, hypnotic soundscapes, acid synth lines, pulsating grooves define his sonic adventures. While his record collection is in constant growth, he also focuses on crafting his own signature sound, some of his productions were signed by the Berlin-based Nug-Net run by Gene On Earth or the Romanian Organic Society, and he is the co-founder of the freshly launched label Fiktiv Records.


"My aim was to take the listeners on a gradually building journey, starting with a slower bpm up to more faster rhythms, while keeping the dark and mysterious vibe throughout the whole mix, covering a range of the electro, ebm, acid infused sonic territories."

As the head of the Minimal Wave and Cititrax labels, Veronica Vasicka has been a prominent figure in the world of synth and wave music for more than a decade. Yet somehow, she's never shared any original music of her own. On November 2, however, that is set to change with the release of 'From Here,' a tune that she originally made back in 2004. Along with the original, the full EP – which will be arriving via the Downwards label – includes several reworks of the track, including this ominously lithe remix from Regis.
