This week on Topshelf we're ecstatic to have with us, French Dark Italo / Italo / EBM DJ, Stella Galactica.

With a glorious ear for spacey 80's italo as her name suggests, Stella Galactica's mixes explore the subgenres of Italo disco and delivering mixes that speak for themselves. Utilising high quality mixing and journey like transitions which make Stella's sets a joy to behold. Incorporating nostalgic guitar riffs, pulsing synths (Both Dark and Cheery) and embracing vocal tracks, making her work incredibly engaging and easily revisitable.

With a corker of a mix for us that wonderfully demonstrate her quality behind the turntables, we're delighted to bring you Topshelf 0136 and the encapsulating sounds of Stella Galactica. Enjoy

Sapphist Eye navigates eclectic electronic musical universes to create its
own: percussive, powerful, sometimes dark, sometimes colorful, in search
of emotion and depth.
As a producer, it all began in 2023 when her track “Exist Everywhere” was
selected for inclusion in the 2nd compilation of the lesbian collective
Barbi(e)turix, featuring 18 artists and sponsored by CHLOE. Shortly
afterwards, she signed her first duet EP with Naominitel on the French
label Les Disques du Lobby, followed by her first solo EP ‘Another Side’,
released in February 2024 on Lumière Noire Records. In 2025, two EPs
added to her sound signature: ‘Idol Spell’ on Nein Records and
‘Mutate+Back’ on Lumière Noire Records.

Counterterraism Guest Mix 368: Sapphist Eye

David Naville, aka @pyrame, is a Lausanne-born Berlin-based music & record producer. He founded his electronic music record label THISBE Recordings in 2020 in order to produce artists whose music stands at the crossroads of the main genres of electro, house and techno music.  

His set is a - lite - THISBE Recordings´showcase featuring several tracks released earlier this year by, among others, Nomenklatür, Agle, Radial Gaze and Kubebe, or about to be released . His mix also features curated tracks from fellow labels such as Playground records, Bonkers Music, Belly Dancers Services and Side Up Works.

Regularly behind the decks in Berlin and abroad, Pyrame subtly blends sub-genres, from slow techo to minimal electro, from indie house to leftfield techno, bringing along the listener onto a melancholic yet hopeful musical trip, his new mix being yet another evidence of his focus on converging where the genres´ boundaries meet.  

In June this year, Pyrame released his new EP "Mutation", available now on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms.

In Aeternam Vale was created in Lyon, France in 1983 under the heavy influence of punk-rock nihilism, Kraftwerk roboticism and cold, aggressive industrialism. Bridging EBM, proto-techno and synthesised dark pop, the prolific Minimal Wave outfit was making fearless music in the 80's that is only recently being reinterpreted. 
This live recording is taken from Laurents pulsating Berlin Atonal performance, curated by Contort in 2014, and highlights some of his best work to date.

Dystopix comes 3 years after the last Neud Photo record and the wait was well worth it. Things have gotten darker with this release. Elegant craftsmanship, subtle but effective vocals whisper throughout, and as always, it's Cybotron influence is clear. The tracks flow with an eery cohesiveness, making it Neud Photo's most well told story to date. The hard part is figuring out whether the story is fiction or (soon to be) reality.

These 6 electro hits can easily be enjoyed either chapter by chapter (songs for the mix or dancefloor), or as a whole (for bedroom listening). Mastered by Rude 66.

Friend with Dj Sextoy, I hung out with the parisian scene in the mid 90's : there were my Pulp and Rex years full of craziness , parties and friends.
Birth of my son... moved to Avignon to document the body modification movement which started there at Body Art.
I slowly quit photography.
2012 -  I got back to electronic music , bought my first controller and started mixing: It pulled me out of my depression.
That particular kind of music is so strong and emotional , that it replaced photography. 
I had recovered.
2016 - I  put out my 50th Mix/Podcast with my new gear (XDJ's700+Xone23). 
I am under various influences as Dark Disco / Electro and all kinds of Waves.
My mixes are images of the moment.

Cold wave, minimal techno, electro abstract, avant- hard, hardcore techno, break core, IDM, EBM, Death Rock, punk Rock, New Wave,Dark Wave, Ambient, MiamiBootyBase, SpeedBase, Dub, RagaMuffin, Dubstep, Industrial, Noise, Experimental, world beat...did I forget anything?  Neophyte, for sure, and these are all my newly found treasures, that I have dug up from around the world.  One day I will produce some tracks again, until then, I will spend every minute listening to all the newly found gems!
