Every turn of the year brings with it a pleasant process of self-criticism, and today we can affirm that Prisma Techno goes through a moment of expansion and evolution. In recent months, we have achieved goals that seemed more like dreams, we have strengthened our connection with artists and we have ratified our positioning in the national and international scene.  All this passes through the present and always passionate look of Thito Fabres, Prisma's A&R and mind behind our new release, 'Evolution II' VA.

Last year, in January, Thito presented the first edition of his annual compilation with 19 original tracks. Now, in 2019, 'Evolution II' features 28 original tracks, bringing together new talents discovered alongside established artists. In a brief interview around his latest Drumcode release, Oscar L explains how "When I started producing 'Dark Fate' I wanted to try something techno and groovy. I got inspired by the original soundtrack movie from ‘Terminator' and actually this is where the title of the track is coming from. I think 'Dark Fate' is a strong weapon for DJs to get the crowd into the techno mood without hitting too hard".

If you want a snapshot of where techno stands in any given year, and a preview of where it’s headed, look no further than Drumcode’s A-Sides compilation. Since 2012 it has marked the label debuts of countless vital Drumcode artists and affiliates, from Layton Giordani, Wehbba and Boxia, to Amelie Lens and ANNA, no less. Every year, new names are unearthed, tried and true techno contributors serve up their best, and icons of the industry land their debut on Adam Beyer’s storied label.

The 2020 edition hits with 13 tracks, eight coming from label debutants. There’s Eats Everything searing rave bomb ‘Organico’ and Dubfire’s ice-cool electro offering ‘Deadbug’, both artists landing their maiden contributions to DC after long affiliations with Beyer. With three EPs in less than two years on Truesoul, Oscar L steps up to DC, showing the breadth of his sound palette with a soaring, synth-laden gem ‘Dark Fate’. Belgians Joyhauser featured at last year’s Drumcode Festival paving the way for ‘Fierceness’, a beautiful melody-drenched cut befitting their DC cap. Anfisa Letyago is another first timer and shows why she’s one of the scene’s most highly touted new artists with the brooding beast ‘Are You In’. A growing label favourite, Juliet Fox follows up ‘Was Beautiful’, her superb track on last year’s A-Sides, with ‘Our Fantasy’, reinforcing her skill for crafting anthemic techno compositions. Victor Ruiz & Thomas Schumacher link and the result is ‘Intuit’, a sleek futuristic roller that hits you square between the eyes. Other highlights come from longtime Drumcode cohorts Reset Robot and Harvey McKay, who both dish up premium works, reinforcing their classy productions nous.

GNTN and Artche, hailing from Germany and the UK respectively, have both been bubbling up in the world of European techno for the past few years, collaborating most recently for an EP on Einmusika and individually releasing on labels like Stil Vor Talent, Suara, and Terminal M. Their debut EP for Yoshitoshi, Plastic Paranoia, brings together the dark, melodic sounds they are known for and incorporates elements of techno and deep house to create a swirling mesh of exhilarating sonic textures. The title track shines with its gorgeous vocal, proving that vocals and techno are not mutually exclusive. It possesses an absolutely stunning breakdown that is sure to have crowds singing along, and builds into a sweltering groove to keep feet moving. Expressions is all instrumental, interweaving a series of gorgeous synth melodies and pads that coalesce in an atmospheric and elaborate soundscape. It's a master class in maximalist production, each element shining through the multitude of layers happening at any given time. To finish things off, Spaniard Aaryon, who is no stranger to the label, gives us a deep, leftfield remix that showcases his propensity for abstract sound design. It's a subtle take on the original, but Aaryon gives it enough flavor that it feels fresh and unique. Altogether, the package displays a variety of stellar music that feels perfectly at home in the Yoshitoshi catalogue.

And just like that, in what seems like the blink of an eye, Selador turns 7 years old and in turn, the Selador Showcase series slips into double figures.

During these challenging times, it seems slightly strange to be celebrating anniversaries but music is one of the best forms of solace, inspiration and distraction we have, so despite most of the World’s dance floors being on lockdown right now, it’s good to know we can still share, connect and help beat those lockdown blues.

Lonya & Patrick Kunkel then switch us to the ‘Durban Channel’ where we find the duo in exhilarating form. A muscular arp led melodic throbber fit for those special peak time occasions.

From a storied city, youthful fascination saw Starkato "Wake Up" to electronic music. Blossoming with techno brilliance, fizzing synthesised lines crackle in summer lightning strikes. A menacing bassline looms large over Berlin, panning LFOs reveal an omnipresence against a powerful metrical backdrop. Cold and motionless, circuitry is brought to life in "Parada" where an analogue narrative continues through the German capital. Radiating light across the Mediterranean, Ampish shines brightly over Alexandria. Sonic waves glisten across the seas in percussive rhythms, a siren rouses all from night-time reverie. "Wake Up" reinterpreted in dynamic fashion from an Egyptian star in ascendance, as powerful chords and emotive patterns flourish. Returning with typical aplomb, Tantum brings "Parada" to life with passion and emotion. A rippling arpeggio explodes into life alongside powerful bassline presence and machine-gun fire percussion. Karlsruhe is the epicentre of creative virtuosity where rhythm and melody combine in symbiotic harmony.

Under the identity of Juren Vû, who is expected to be one of the new
generation electronic music pioneers of Turkey, there is a passion for music that shapes his life.

Born in 1996, Juren Vû began his musical career in his brother's studio. From an early age, spending his most time in music studios allowed him to learn and apply different techniques where he had a full space to progress on his craft. In a culture dominated by pop and folk music, he discovered electronic music at underground parties at the age of 17. That’s when he decided to chase his dreams.

He began his professional career year later under his real name Serif Can Gozum. After gaining an attention with considerable performances in Turkey, he wanted to create something that would reveal his roots, finding his roots on the progressive electronic music he takes form as Juren Vû.

In 2017, he released his first piece Exodus in partnership with Mad Flynn, climbing up to 4th place on the Beatport Deep House charts and entering the Hot This Week charts on Apple Music, making a cautious yet successful entry. Juren Vu characterizes itself in compositions with harder bass tones.

In the last two years, the artist shared the stage with names like Eelke Kleijn, Andrea Oliva, ANNA, Wehbba, SAMA’, Adana Twins, Erly Tepshi, Alberth, Spektre, Eli&Fur, Markus Schulz, Cosmic Gate and Ferry Corsten.
