After releasing label co-founder Willy Parker's "Back from Death" EP in August of 2020, Frankfurt-based music and arts imprint SOPTIK is back with the first installment of their new VA series "Selected Tracks", out on December 4th and available on all platforms including Beatport, Spotify and Bandcamp.

The compilation of 11 unique and original productions showcases the label´s resilient diversity of both roster and sound, cautiously balancing modern Techno varieties with more analogue and experimental vibes. Ranging from percussive and evolving soundscapes of tracks like Confusion´s "Disparity" or "Y'All Got Problems" by Houston Stiller to the more synth-driven and progressive nature of pieces like Decka´s "Unheard" or Norberto Lusso´s "Olliphane", the EP covers multiple symphonic and rhythmic facets of the genre on a diverse Bpm spectrum - all while maintaining a clear and coherent aural aesthetic.

Through its seamless fusion of airy pads, subtle drums and increasingly distorted and modulated basslines, the opening track "The New Normal", contributed by Unknown Movements label owner Other Form from Bristol UK, introduces the central focus on complex grooves and the evocative, gloomy atmosphere present throughout the release. Previous collaborative efforts between the two imprints resulted in the early 2020 publication of "Coping Strategies for Progressive Persuasions" on eight-inch tape, featuring original tracks by Willy Parker, Vlaeminck and Decka.

Contrasting more delicate and downscaled pieces by Hych, Senh and Vlaeminck, tracks like "News in Sport" or "A Light Emerge From The Ground" by label debutants Stefan Czech and Messiahwaits exemplify the more dancefloor-focused, fast-paced side of the EP. The final track, "Alzirr" by Willy Parker, concludes the release by merging distinct atmospherical themes, a sizzling high- and a commanding low-end.

With the creation of the „Selected Tracks“ series, the young label intends to incorporate a network of both upcoming and established artists and musicians who reflect and refine the SOPTIK sound. Follow @soptik_ on social media for updates on upcoming releases and events!

1728 cases of police violence, 934 arbitrary arrests against protesters, 341 violent interventions by the public force, 234 victims of physical violence by the police, 98 cases of guns being fired by the police, 26 victims who lost at least one eye, 11 cases of sexual violence by the police, 37 murders... and the count goes on.

Kerry native but London based, FLÆN is well known for his dark and industrial techno sounds through both his productions and DJ sets. 

FLÆN has been djing/producing the past 3 years and has created a unique sound using both hardware and software in his productions.

The past 2 years have been very big for FLÆN having had releases on major labels such as Gobsmacked Records, Falsive Records, Occult Rhythms, Tetreadre Records, User Experience, etc, seeing the likes of DAX J, Rebekah, Joe Farr, Parallx, Patrick DSP, Kobosil, Kozlov supporting and playing out his tracks in various venues around the world, FLÆN recently started his monthly residency with London Radio station Fnoob, with alot of things already in the pipeline we expect the back end of 2021 to be massive for the Irish artist.

When considering Edinburgh’s Duellist, the term heavyweight has never been more apt. A man with a firm musical education across multiple genres, he makes energetic and industrial techno his home when producing, DJing and performing live. These talents have firmly established him in the techno community, both as a contributor and a curator.

Taking his sound on the road, Duellist has performed all across Europe and made multiple excursions to Japan, evolving and firming up his sound along the way. His productions have received the support of a host of influential DJs including Slam, Carl Cox and Rebekah, releasing as he has on labels such as Decoy, Scuderia and PLS.uk. Duellist keeps his sound coherent across his output, so expect thundering drums and extreme noise all wrapped up with a firm eye on the dance floor.

We are hereby thrilled to present “Every Human Is An Enemy” by E.L.I.A.S ( @eliaswaves )a young Italian producer that made his way into the scene with great sounds and providing a number of huge tracks both alone and with his Distorted Planet duo project. His approach in techno is effective and open minded, giving space and dynamic to his tracks, aswel as power and hard, pounding rhythm. The four originals are diverse, telling different stories and but being yet connected by a very thin and strong line. On remix duty we have two very special guests that need not much of an introduction, Ectoplasm ( @ectoplasmmusic ), back on SG hammering his take with dark ambiences and hard hitting drums and finally Keepsakes ( @keepsakes ), who need even less introductions, providing a Class - A raw take while skilfully playing with drums and groove.
