💥TECHNO 5💥

Some time ago I asked Donato to compile the “Rome” edition of the 200th podcast for electronique.it.

His response to this challenge is a techno mix that I can best describe as an intense, intimate and evocative portrait of the reality that is Rome. While drawing on a wide range of source material and inspiration from the past, he constructs a deeply personal mix that is directed towards the future. It is, in a word, epic!

Newa is now one of BASEMENT’s first residents. Her BASEMENT mix kicks the series off with a bang. Her set exemplifies techno at its rushing, futuristic best. Churning with a fleet-footed defiance, these 65 minutes show her firing on all cylinders. Describing the club, she says: “The first time I entered it, it felt like home. Tsurugi is an individual deeply embedded in the underground techno scene, with his feet and passion firmly rooted. Tim may well have been our first-ever international attendee, visiting from Washington in the United States. He mentioned coming alone after spotting the lineup on social media, using it as the perfect excuse to revisit the UK for a musical journey. Since then, he has committed to this annual dance, becoming a true hero of Above Below, cherished dearly in our hearts.

Donato Scaramuzzi aka Donato Dozzy è uno dei DJ e producer italiani più importanti e rispettati in ambito techno, con una lunga carriera caratterizzata da uno sviluppo lento e progressivo, punteggiata dal 2004 in poi da tanti 12” e album (spesso testimonianze di esplorazioni in territori più lontani dal dancefloor) pubblicati in solitaria o in varie collaborazioni (il progetto Voices From The Lake merita un approfondimento specifico).

"Si trasforma in un razzo missile" è un viaggio nel lato oscuro dell’industria discografica nazionale che, dalla metà degli anni Settanta fino ai primi Novanta, ha prodotto sigle originali per i cartoni animati d'importazione. Una complessità creata da band nelle quali militavano (quasi in segreto) i nomi più autorevoli della musica italiana.
