Hosted by Ryan Monceaux and Brad Towns, the first show's guests included MBB coach Kelvin Sampson, quarterback recruit Austin Carlisle from Ridge Point HS, wide receiver Joseph Manjack IV, tight end Jayden York, and our CATS! co-host and the man who created "For The City," Galen Robinson.

The Cougars Go 2-0 to Open the Season & Return to #1 in the AP Poll

The Houston Cougars won a big one over Auburn in Birmingham to get to 4-0 for the season. All three freshmen balled out on the big stage, but ultimately, it was the Kingston Flemings Showcase. Flemings has staked an early claim as the alpha on this season's team.  "Feast Week" games await after playing Rider on Thursday, as the team prepares to travel to Las Vegas to take on Syracuse, Tennessee, & a third team TBD.

The Kingston Flemings Showcase

Welcome to Episode #64 of the No Conference for Old Men podcast.

Like last season, it was a mixed bag for Houston at the Players Era Festival.  With lots of "wisdom and learnings," as Coach Sampson likes to say, the team won two games against Syracuse and Notre Dame. But the Coogs also suffered a close loss to a Tennessee team seeking payback for last season's Elite 8 loss.  The Cougars are now 7-1 for the season and are ranked #7 in the coaches poll, #8 in the AP poll, and #9 in KenPom.  There’s been plenty of time to work on the issues during this 10-day break before facing FSU at the Toyota Center.

Old Men Podcast: Arkansas Up Next + Revisiting XII Predictions

Happy New Year, everyone!  After critical wins over Arkansas and Cincinnati (with a sloppy MTSU win sandwiched in between), this Cougar team is 13-1 and 1-0 in XII play.  It was a statement win on national TV vs Calipari's Arkansas team, where the Cougar offense was fast, flowing, and in peak form.  Two more wins ended 2025 and opened conference play to start January.  The Coogs are now ranked No. 7 in the AP, with two in-state rivals on deck in Texas Tech & Baylor.
