I had the privilege of performing my first ever live set at the 8th Day of Creation (@8doc_music) at Afrikaburn 2024 between 10-12pm on the Saturday night. The theme of this years Burn was "Creation" and so it felt so fitting to play all original music at this incredible art piece. 

The stage was built by an international team from Berlin and Cape Town, and depicted a pregnant mother with the earth as her belly, a space of renewal, reconnection and rebirth.

I used Ableton Push, Novation Launch Control XL, Akai MPK Mini and Playtronica's touch sensitive midi hardware which I connected to a mushroom to trigger sound.

Thank you to 8Doc for having me as a part of your beautiful stage and thank you to all those who trekked to the far end of the playa to dance with me.

@pangeafrequencies has always held a deep place in my heart—a truly sacred space. Being there as part of the build team of the Canyon was an unforgettable experience, and it was an honor to open the floor with my set.

When I first heard the theme Brave New World, it resonated deeply. I felt compelled to craft an entire journey of tracks inspired by what it means to carry oneself through and embody a brave new world. For me, music has always been a portal for expression—a way to communicate what words often can’t. 

This was only my second live setup ever, and pushing myself to play a full two-hour set of all-original music was an intimidating leap. But every moment of magic shared in that incredible atmosphere with that crowd made it more than worth it. For those asking about the mushrooms—yes, they were an integral part of the set! I used playtronica to connect my synth to the mushrooms, producing some unique spacey, and psychedelic sounds. You can check out my instagram for more details on this.

Everyone - the response to this set has been overwhelming, and I’m so grateful for everyone’s kind words and energy. This has been my most meaningful and ambitious creative project to date, and I’m humbled to have shared it with such an open-hearted audience.

SHMIKESSS (Live) - Pangea (Brave New World) 2024 - Canyon Opening Set

The fifth release of VBX, "I Change, Just Like You" will soon arrive directly from Ferro, one of the main exponent of the Amsterdam-based collective.

The Dutch producer is recently on fire: apart from delivering "Limbic Resonance" VBX004 circa 8 month ago, produced together with Reiss as Spokenn, there were severals and insisting rumors around him to be the Unknown Artist behind a heavily-endorsed tune played this year.

Overall, his stamp on VBX record label is significant: the first two-ever issues, which played a major role in kick-starting the imprint ("Time Will Tell" and "Meeting In Another World") are from Jasper himself, confirming his creativity in studio and setting the last couple of year as the most prolific to date.

His growth as a DJ and producer goes at the same fast-peace VBX is going, with both breaking milestones one after the other in short period of times. His duo-project with his friend Reiss, which we featured not long time ago, is booming, with both set to appear in Ibiza for Carl Cox project One Night Stand at Amnesia and DC-10, respectively on 02 July 2018 and 10 August 2018.

VBX005 is a two-tracker EP. The name Endresonic - the A side of this two tracker - subtly references the Norwegian vocalist, who's haunting voice lends the percussion heavy and uplifting track a visceral quality. It's the type of track that you will be humming the day after you heard it being played out by your favourite DJ, wondering what it could be.

Dark Revelations on the flip feels almost like the Mr Hyde to Endresonic's Dr Jekyll. Countless heady modulating soundscapes, gurgling bleeps and blobs, subtle percussive elements and an eerie voice - with Ferro's signature groove as the backbone holding it all together - ensure a trippy, almost cerebral, listening experience. 'I Change, Just Like You' provides the listener with an aural glimpse into the multidimensional universe of sounds that Ferro calls home.
