This was the first record after getting a new mic back in January. Before my accident. We had to drive all the way to Cary for it, I felt it was a con later on. It's a landmark between two phases of my life for no reason or out of nowhere. Mutant shit.

In full dedication to the woman who inspired this, Jeannie Mai - thank you for your brilliance & integrity. A few months back there was a viral clip of people calling out 'Brenda Song' on the daytime tv show 'The Real' who was apparently being insensitive racially when in fact the people bringing this to light were being just as boneheaded assuming Jeannie Mai & Brenda Song were the same person because of their heritages. I thought it was a funny look at how we all participate in reinforcing stereotypes & before highlighting a thing, we can be bit more informed first. It made me take a look into Ms. Mai's profile & I found she's American, of Vietnamese and Chinese descent. And since this song's main idea is about going and getting whatever it is you want & doing it yourself, your way, no matter the obstacles which is what Jeannie's parents did so she could be in the position she's in today, I found the currency from her parent's respective places of origin & did this artwork to encapsulate the entire story behind this particular record.
