As of this writing, it has been three days since the Icelandic newspaper Stundin broke the story that a key witness in the US government's case against Julian Assange had fabricated allegations against the WikiLeaks founder. And yet, somehow, Assange is still in prison. 

Weirder still, not one major western media outlet outside of Iceland has reported on this massive and entirely legitimate news story. A search brings up coverage by Icelandic media, by Russian media, and by smaller western outlets like Democracy Now, World Socialist Website, Consortium News, Zero Hedge and some others, but as of this writing this story has been completely ignored by all major outlets who are ostensibly responsible for informing the public in the western world.

Children process the grown-up world through play. "Kagome," with its cryptic lyrics, taunting melody, circular motion, and "who's behind you?" theme points to some grey area most of us grown-ups are still processing. That tug and a tapestry of past and present are woven into @andrei_g's music; for the vocals, I imagined a young woman walking slowly, trailing her fingers along fence rails while thinking back on that one day in the playground ...

Disquiet Junto Project 0591: The Loneliest Number
The Assignment: Record the first third of a trio.

I started with a track I'm working on since months and which does not work for me. I threw away all but what was originally some kind of Rhodes basis. I rearranged it until I liked it more than the original fully instrumented version. It's now Dmin with only two 4-bar-progressions to Gm and back. It's 90bpm, 6/4. I see plenty of space for Drums, Leads, Vocals, Noises - have fun, if you like ;-)

Disquiet Junto Project 0592: Better Than One
The Assignment: Record the second third of an asynchronous trio.

I chose https://soundcloud.com/micheleisoni/7-7-7-disquiet-junto-0591 by Michele Isoni https://soundcloud.com/micheleisoni because I liked it very much. Since the strings gave us a very lively sound, I wanted to put a static sound alongside it. In a first try I added some gongs, in a second some ambience noise, and I ended with a combination of both at the risk of overstuffing it now. To stay in the sign of the number 7, there are 3x 7 Gong events, and the ambience starts 7 times (and only while the string stops). I avoided the left-right-step, because I love the stereo image of the strings. I hope I managed to keep the mysterious mood of the first track and still leave room for a third track - I'm very curious.

There's been an astonishingly brazen propaganda push to normalize war profiteering in Ukraine as Kyiv coordinates with the arms industry and western governments to convert the war-ravaged nation into a major domestic weapons manufacturer, thereby turning Ukrainians into proxies of the military industrial complex as well as the Pentagon.

Disquiet Junto Project 0618: Burying the Lede
The Assignment: Turn old news into new music.

Step 1: Locate an old news article, the less dramatic perhaps the better, from roughly 50 years ago. Try to find something local to where you live now or have lived.

Step 2: Use a text-to-speech tool to convert the article to audio. There are numerous such software applications, and no doubt discussion in the Junto thread on llllllll.co 1 will yield suggestions should you require one.

Step 3: Set to music the voice recording that resulted from Step 2. A length of two and a half to five minutes is recommended. Use an article sufficient to that length — you may end up not using the entire text. As the piece goes on, have the voice slowly get subsumed by the music, until by the end the voice is no longer intelligible — perhaps not even audible.

Note: In case the word isn’t familiar, a “lede” is “the opening sentence or paragraph of a news article, summarizing the most important aspects of the story.”
