There is an ancient Korean story of the honor of trust and the tests of honor among persons holding power. The story of Chunyangjeon can be illuminating to the choices made by 'journalists' (villagers) who flock to the corporate coin of payment for their services to the powerful. Journalism, in truth, the entire corporate monopoly media, has become a salacious servant for moneyed profit. Truth and honor no longer matter, and choices have to be made in the journalist experience to serve the powerful or serve the need of the people. One day, the crimes will be prosecuted and honor will return. One may recognize those who dwell as outcast journalists as heros who triumph and return justice to the village. Foxes, unlike possums, are not native to Australia,
but neither are white people so no judgement.
I got here the same way she did.

We are all where we are on this planet because of the dances our ancestors did
with rich Englishmen
and native possums.

I walk on stolen land under a sun that burns my pale skin,
ripping the dead ideas of dead men out from my skull like thorns.
If you ever need to find me just look for the trail
of rosary beads and communion wafers,
of Murdoch papers and nice guy rapists.
If I am dead when you find me please weave fairy lights through my bones
and leave a sign that reads HERE LIES EMPTINESS.
Maybe lizards and frogs will play in this ribcage.
Maybe native flowers will grow in this skull.

I don't know what any of this is or where any of it is going.
I'm blown through this horny graveyard party like a dandelion seed in the wind.
The old crone told me cosmic joy would cost me everything,
but when I paid her she showed me the money was only leaves.

I accidentally scared the fox off by flicking on the porch light,
causing her to drop her dinner in her haste to escape.
I switched the light off and waited in the dark for her to reclaim her prize,
which she eventually did,
slinking off into the night with the possum.

"I'll see you around,"
I said to the both of them.

The Assignment: Use a building as a filter.

Step 1: You’re going to use a wall in a building, perhaps your workplace or residence, as a filter. Consider these instructions carefully before selecting the appropriate wall. Some trial and error may be required.

Step 2: You’re going to record a track in which the rhythmic element is heard through a wall. That is: you’ll record the rhythm track, and then play it loud from another room (or outside), and record what it sounds like as separated by a wall. Choose a wall.

Step 3: Record the rhythm, track.

Step 4: Re-record the rhythm track from Step 3 by playing it on one side of a wall and recording from the other side of that wall.

Step 5: Record a piece of music using the recording from Step 4 as the foundational rhythm track.

Eight Important Steps When Your Track Is Done:

Step 1: Include “disquiet0583” (no spaces or quotation marks) in the name of your tracks.

Step 2: If your audio-hosting platform allows for tags, be sure to also include the project tag “disquiet0583” (no spaces or quotation marks). If you’re posting on SoundCloud in particular, this is essential to subsequent location of tracks for the creation of a project playlist.

It's one of the most shameful jobs in the entire world to spend your time doing critical reporting on the enemies of your government while ignoring your own government's far more egregious crimes. 

People talk about sex work as shameful, and in America they'll even shame you for working a low-paying job like McDonald's, when on all our screens every day we see people selling their own government's ugly foreign policy in a line of work that is entire universes more shameful.

That's why I dislike the use of the word "presstitute" to refer to these people. Not because it's insulting to the press, but because it's insulting to sex workers.
