My recent set in two parts from the Calder Del Sol Sessions at Barbary's, Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire. Four hours African music from all across the continent and I felt like I could have kept going for another four.

Today we reach the 15th chapter in our Curtis Radio series, and what a great way to close the year and our first season of the show with an outstanding selection by our admired and esteemed Breixo Martinez. A DJs DJ, a never-failing source of musical  knowledge, inspitation and discovery, his revered Canela en Surco radio show just turned 10 years old and has expanded into a record label, about to present its 3rd release. The first 2 releases already holding cult status. This 10 tunes selection (+1 bonus track) is introduced by Breixo as "the most appreciated records in my collection". Considering that his collection is basically a musical gold-mine, gives an idea of the level of dopeness we are dealing with here. Brawther broke onto the house scene back in 2009, after an exchange with Chez Damier over Myspace led to the release of his 'Untitled' record on Damier's, at-the-time, newly revived Balance Alliance label. In more recent times he's been quietly working on his first studio album 'Transient States', a record he's self released on his new label Negentropy, and one he's described as being able to work on with 'complete utter freedom' since commencing the project. Showcasing deeply-rooted works ranging from house to dub, broken beat and downtempo, the eight track album see's the French producer working with an array of studio musicians and vocalists, with unsung Detroit hero Javontte tapped for the album centre piece "I Can't Explain".

We caught up with Sammy to discuss the direction and collaborations on his new album, getting invited by Fumiya Tanaka to come play his Chaos party in Japan, his long-time friendship with Chez Damier and  forthcoming music under his collaborative Dungeon Meat alias. On Truancy Volume 218, Brawther showcases a more low-key listening side, delving deep into the jazzier side of his collection, but with a strong emphasis on groove throughout. Featuring music from the likes of Uriel, The Other Project, King Britt, and more, it's a free-flowing hour, that should please long-time Brawther fans.

Gold Code aka Raf Zevallos-Crowe, is a DJ/producer based in Orange County, California. A lifelong music lover, collector, and DJ, Raf's eclectic sets run the gamut of dance music with a base in-house and techno.

Growing up in 1980s Los Angeles, he was initially inspired by radio mix shows and DJs such as Doc Martin, Rob One, Michael "Mixxin" Moore, and 1580 KDAY Mixmasters. Moving to San Francisco in 1992, he immersed himself in its underground scene. Attending parties lead to working them and eventually to djing. He played his first warehouse in 1996 and spent the next 10 years djing and producing some of San Francisco’s most infamous parties and club nights.

"Gold Code" was initially founded as a music blog in 2007. The site showcased past, present, and future classics as well as his personal edits and DJ mixes. 

In 2009, he focused his efforts on music production and a live show. He adopted "Gold Code" as his moniker and debuted a well-received live set at the celebrated “As You Like It” parties. Remixes soon followed for Nude Photo Music and SubSensory labels culminating with his debut release, "The Day After" with remixes by Audioelectronic, Basskittens, Chris Fierenze, and Jonah Sharp.

2015 brought a move back to Southern California and a radio show, OMAKASE. Currently broadcasting live on Sunday from 6-8 pm [Pacific] on KUCI 88.9 FM, and livestreaming on www.twitch.tv/omakaseshow, showcasing the art of mixing past, present, and future classics.
