The Shock

his past summer, Kendra and I were lucky enough to stay a month in our home town of Tucson, Arizona to spend some valuable time with my father before time took it's toll with his terrible disease. Traveling to see parents during a pandemic is sketchy at best. Lucky for us, Kendra's parent's were out of town, allowing us to properly quarantine before sharing air with my parents. 
As was also our luck, the piano at my in-law's house was recently tuned for the first time in over 2 decades. So, between witnessing the beautiful mountains burn down, reading the covid numbers in Arizona (and the rest of the world) skyrocket while seeing the selfish stroll publicly without masks, watching the end days of my father's temporal battle, hearing hateful rhetoric surrounding the rise of human rights protests that were actively being hampered by the very people who have the power to realize the achievable dreams of those with no power, and being made aware of my old high-school friend's involvement in yet another example of police brutality, I still wanted to take advantage of this piano. 

I wrote and recorded this song with the limited resources I had on hand while waiting for that negative test result.
