We welcome back the talented Ben Soundscape to Dispatch Limited for the ‘Desert Swim EP’.

Setting out to create something darker ‘My Business’ sees Ben explore heavier territory, something he is not known for in his solo production. Working late nights, uninterrupted, allowed this sound to take shape, the track taking its name from the vocal sample that feeds off the bassline, warping and distorting throughout the track.

The EP takes its name from the misheard vocal sample in the title track ‘Desert Swim’. Providing a theme and idea to the track, the idea of taking a swim in the sand reminiscent of a trip by camel across the Sahara desert, as seen in the artwork for the release.

The track ‘Breathe’ was made on a trip to Vienna to work on music with RoyGreen & Protone pre covid restrictions. Wanting to create something dancefloor but with a quirky bass hook. The end result of the regular collab session involved a lot of modulation, chopping and enveloping to get the bass groove going.

‘Instances’ is another deep roller, based on the Scorpio break – tuned it to fit perfectly with the pads and other elements in the track. It gave the track some old skool influence.

We begin our travels in Amsterdam by taking a ride on the ‘Metro 54’. The opening Rhodes chords instantly evoke warmth and dazzling light, and when the soulful tone of Ruth Corey enters with ‘’we all want to run away into the sun’’ - you know this one's gonna be special. Auris and Ruth deliver a beautiful collaboration that conjures 70’s jazz fusion vibes and blends them with snappy breaks and deep sub-bass. Ruth’s lyrics find her exploring her co-passengers with wonder. Cruising the Metro 54 you never know who you might meet, so sit back and enjoy the sun and take in the view of city life and its beauty.

‘Operating on Instinct’ opens with gorgeous piano chords, the summertime ambience of twittering birds, jazz horn samples and vocal snips. Crispy breaks and a funky moving bass follow. This one just grooves with ease and finesse. Smooth!

For ‘Evergreen’ Auris has drafted in Sydney Chapman and together they summon the forest spirits to create something magical. Pianos, guitars, ambience and reverb all work to create a thick atmosphere of mystery. Auris supplies the perfect backdrop for Sydney to deliver her love song to the earth. Like walking through a dream.



For the final leg of the journey ‘Sugarcoating’ takes us into the nighttime with a slightly darker edge. This track is a sleek, slowly twisting exploration of techno, dub and drum and bass. Auris shows us a different side of himself and lets us know he means business this time around. Levels!
